Synology makes anything beyond 1 gbit Ethernet a God damn luxury and it shouldn’t be like that

I wish synology used the hardware of QNAP. Or used OCP. But even on cpu they're behind imho compared to QNAP (unless things have improved the past two years on their cpu side)

Interesting NAS. Wondering if it's worth upgrading my DS-920+ for this one.

Is this thing even capable of saturating a 1000base-T connection?

Which screw driver are you using there? I have been in the market for one like that

Great
but why not a standard OCP NIC 3.0.
Is this smaller one a Standard or a Synology Thing?

The SSDs and NICs for this thing are vendor-locked. The NIC is expensive, but not outrageously so. The SSDs, however, stop at tiny capacities, and are eye-wateringly expensive. Why?!!

After all the terrible reviews on Synology - I think I get a QNAP or maybe just build my own with TrueNAS
