Omg... I didn’t realize I would need an engineering degree

The unit for work is Joule, the unit for power is Joules per second or Watt.

Does downshifting while still accelerating hurt the car? For example, if I’m cruising but want to choose a lower gear so I can overtake. Should I take my foot off the accelerator before downshifting?

I love the sound my charger rt with super 40 flowmaster makes when I down shift approaching a stop light, I drive in Manual mode to take advantage of the exhaust sound you get doing it, automatic shifting keeps my exhaust quiet which Sucks!

"The unit of work is Watt and the unit of power is Watt per second." Wow, you've instantly lost all credibility that you know anything.

What if you are on 5th gear then you paddle shifted to fast 1st gear, the car will produce weird sound, its like the rpm is too high. Would that damage the transmission? Is it bad for the transmission?

I also have a charger with paddle shifters I was in 4th gear trying to slow down so I applied breaks and went from 4 to 3rd to 1st and I was breaking the entire time while changing gears and I kept being jerked. Is that going to ruin my transmission bc it was my 1st time doing that thanks!!

When slowing down and downshifting do you have to rev match or does it automatically do it with the paddle shifters/auto stick?

ok can you do like a dumbed down version?

Ford's have no engine braking which is really annoying because if you downshift all that happens is the transmission revving up real fast

I was trying to see if there was a way to rev match and automatic while downshifting with the pattles. My car does not have any kind of rev matching, just jerks you forward and slams into the lower gear.

I have a paddle shift car, is it harmful for the car if I rev match while I downshift?

Its also the best way to win a roll race ( i know from experience ;P)

It's always better to use the brakes. Transmissions cost thousands to repair, brakes only hundreds.

It means if you want to down shift from higher gear without stepping on brake you shouldn't step on accelerator too?
