How to Configure Rules in the New Outlook for Windows Email Client

If you have switched from Windows Mail to the new Outlook for Windows (Outlook One) email client, then you might not know that you can add email rules just like you can in the Outlook 365 client. You do not have all of the same options but there are enough for most people to get by. You can't use the rules features on all types of email accounts though. For example, you cannot make rules for Gmail accounts and other non Microsoft accounts.

Here is a writeup of the process on our website.

If I add the action of "Mark as Read" my rule won't save... Also, my external contacts didn't transfer over from the old outlook, shared mailboxes are difficult to use. Very dissapointed with this overall, as much as I wanted to use Copilot, I think I will go back to the old version.

I need a desktop notification for a mail I moved (with a rule) to a "bitbucket" folder. Now the email comes, but no desktop notification or alert that I've got an email arrives. I have to check periodically if there is something new in my "bitbucket" folder. In old office, I could apply a rule to display an alert. Now it's just moving, forwarding and tagging. Is there some workaround with this?
