"It's pretty clear that the Russians have moved virtually all of their ships, if not all of their ships from Tartus."

Russia's withdrawal from Syria is likely well underway as Putin's mediterranean fleet is unlikely to return to Tartus along with much of their air power, Retired Col. Hamish De Bretton Gordon tells Kate Gerbeau on Frontline.

Thank you Kate for an outstanding interview. Hamish is a great humanitarian and a military man. I had not realised his humanitarian work in Syria and his love for Syrian people.

Thank you Hamish for your services. 🙏

As a Syrian, I would like to thank you, sir. From the depth of my heart. You did more to help my country than I did.

I listened to Hamish a few times but didn't know much about his history or background. I'm glad he opened up a bit about himself in this interview and what came through to me, is a person with sensitivity and compassion. The image of that two-year-old boy with both legs and an arm missing and yet smiling is heartbreaking, but Hamish would have seen many other similar incidents. Thank you for doing these interviews, Kate.

What a terrific interview! Thank you (Sir) Hamish De Bretton for all you have done, and are doing, for the long-suffering Syrian people. This Christmas, may the Christ Child bring an end to kaputin’s reign and bring about a just peace in Ukraine.

Such compelling testimony from the colonel. Amazing how a soldier, a man of war, carries tremendous empathy for others, like the legless w year old Syrian boy. and a sincere drive for the betterment of our world. God bless, sir.

Calling Syria Putin’s Waterloo gives Putin too much credit.

Putin is a coward, Napoleon went to the front line.

This man, Mr. Hamish is worth more than dozens of other journalists. He speaks from his vast experience with the people and numerous groups in Syria, past and present. Most importantly, he is a man in honestly and integrity.

Massively impressed with Hamish, for what he has done since leaving the military when he didn't have to put himself in harms way.

Now I get why I just have confidence with people like Hamish De Bretton. He is a real person when he tells about the child who lost leg and arm, compared with his own cancer.

The Syrian Prison videos are horrific shame on Putin for protecting this

What's happening in Syria is historic. Syria was a Russian close asset since the cold war Soviet times. It became even more important in recent years when Iran joined the BRICS alliance. With Iran help Russia had open passage through Caspian sea into Iran, Iraq and then into Syria basically into Mediterranean basin and further into Africa. Now this open corridor is blocked and there's no safety for Russian military bases in Tartus and Letakia.

What an inspiring interview! We pray that truth will prevail and that Syrians will no longer be exposed to the brutality that they have experienced for too many years! God sends special people to help the helpless, and Col Hamish is one of those special angels! We salute you Sir, please keep up the good work!

Terrific interview, so clear reasonable and measured in everything he said, all with on the ground experience. I hope that our politicians will take notice of what he says and take the appropriate actions. I did not realise just how important the UK government helped had been with funding the white helmets for which Hamish gave due credit. What an impressive chap
