Seven Deadly Sins Against the Holy Spirit
1. Striving (to struggle in opposition) against the Holy Spirit or the known will of God. (Genesis 6:1-3)
2. Resisting (to withstand the force or effect of) the Holy Spirit (Acts 7:51)
3. Lying ( to make an untrue statement with intent to deceive) to the Holy Spirit or about the Holy Spirit (Acts 5:3)
4. Tempting ( to induce to do something) the Holy Spirit (Acts 5:9)
5. Grieve (to cause to suffer: distress) the Holy Spirit. He is a person (Ephesians 4:30)
6. Quench (to terminate by or as if by destroying) the Holy Spirit or tamp down Holy Spirit, (1 Thessalonians 5:19)
7. Blaspheme ( to speak of or address with irreverence (lack of honor or respect) the Holy Spirit (Matthew 12:31)
These sins are deadly and can suck the life out of a believer. Do not resist the Holy Spirit.
God does not want any lack in our lives. Ordinary believers have the power of God living inside of them. Who you are in church is who you should be outside of church. We are led by the Spirit of God. Do you have the Spirit of God? We can have the Spirit and still resist. We have to work on our obedience. If we do not, then this is resistance. It has to be 'no' to you and 'yes' to God. If you can lie to the Holy Spirit, you can lie to anyone. You can even lie about the Holy Spirit.
The church cannot be heaven because there are still sinners or imperfect people there. God says to be still and quiet so that He can work on your heart. He knows what is best for you. If you let Him work on you, you will have more control over what you say and do. He works on your feelings and emotions which dictate your behavior. Mind, emotions, and will make up the seat of our decision-making. Imagination is an important place in your soul. The root word of imagination is image. This is what the world uses and places before you.
An example is advertisements. Some people observe how something looks and how it makes them feel to determine if what they see is good or bad. This is just observing surface attributes and not looking for deeper truths.
We cannot go from A to B in God if we resist Him. The standard of God does not only apply to the leaders of the church but also to every member of the body of Christ. God does not want us to be reformed but transformed. He wants us to surrender not only our spirits but our souls and bodies. God is looking for a holy and righteous church. Judge yourself before God does.
When you resist God, you offer yourself to Satan. When you say, "I will not!!", you are offering yourself to Satan. Do not know to do better, but refuse to do better.
