I use Triluma and sunscreen of course. It’s very frustrating, but I’ve learned to live with it. I’ve used $700 Sisly Paris serum before and felt like a fool. Going to the doctor and getting a prescription is the ONLY thing that produced real results. Thank you for shedding light on a very frustrating topic.

Thanks for addressing this topic, Christa. I have melasma and I've found that tranexamic acid works very well in combination with other topical non-hydroquinone lighteners. If on hydroquinone, one should look into getting it compounded with a retinoid like Tretinoin (and steroid cream) for best results. Obviously, you'd need a derm prescription for that. Meladerm is also another awesome product for pigmentation as it contains a ton of actives specifically to brighten the skin. But yeah, melasma is one of those complex conditions that you often need to address from multiple angles. ❤

I have had it many years. I still have it. But last summer I used Nivea's anti-pigment serum, it helped a little. I didn't have 'mustache' that bad. But I wish I could get rid of it completely. 😉

I don't know what triggered it. Never neen pregnant, haven't sunbathed that much. Been using sunscreen last years. But maybe it's when we were kids and were outside all the time without sunscreen back then.

I used birth control pills in the '70's and '80's. I believe that is when I started developing it. It is stubborn and I have found that the worst of it doesn't budge. I use tretinoin and hydroquinone, and I don't see a difference in my melasma.
