One factor -- if your net worth is high, you might find that having a high deductible prevents you from having a general liability/umbrella policy -- some umbrella policies have caps on your standard home insurance deductibles. An umbrella policy can be important protection to have even for auto accidents as property costs and medical costs fom accidents have been skyrocketing, and may not be covered by your auto policy per-incident or per-person caps.

I didn't understand what you said. I'm on SSA and have the last $500.00 deductible policy in Jacksonville, Florida. That is for BOTH property AND hurricane claims. I'm sure this will be the last time I will be able to afford the coverage. I am Blessed. I may try to get a work at home job to save for a high deductible hurricane policy for next year. I also want to pay off my debt, including my 0.0% mortgage.
