I lived in Thailand for two years around 1992 - 1993. Many people I've talked to truly respected their old king Bhumibol Adulyadej but despised Maha Vajiralongkorn. They think he is an useless playboy.

The current 'king' is a disgrace .. an insult to his father's legacy.

While it is noble to protest for more democracy and a reform of the Monarchy, the real problem is the system itself.. Thailand is not one of the most unequal nations worldwide because of the Monarchy or the Military that is backed by it. The root of all problems is widespread corruption throughout all constitutions and levels of society and that people rather live with it and exploit it if it favors them, than fight it.

Sorry to say, but even with reforms and a new Govt. Thailand will still be the same

Government put a lot of effort to protect the king while people are abandoned and staving.

If a new government is established due to this protests, then the difficulties will begin. Everyone will expect good results from new government. But is there any possibility of them solving social contradictions in society? Those who support the old government will still be alive. Suppressing them is also a challenge.

'My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!'
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away. .. A king who shuns his kingdom may return to find that seeds of dissent have grown in his absence.. it has been this way for all of history.

He's barely in Thailand, he's out there in Germany doing God knows what. The German gov was getting tired of him residing for too long lmao

He's in Europe because he doesn't want to be seen as not doing anything with the military, he allowed the military to rule for him by defacto.

What a useless king. His father would be ashamed of him.
