I am in agreement with you all. Only for defense. I flee when I can flee, stand my ground only if I cannot escape.

I am part of my church security team. We trust that Hod is in charge so we pray that the Holy Spirit is in control of our trigger fingers. We are a tool in the hand of the Lord to deal with evil.

Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. I trust in God and keep faith even as I struggle to take care of my children and myself. As a single mother things are so hard on me. Both of my sons are autistic I’m overwhelmed. God please hear my prayers. I’m constantly struggling to buy groceries and constantly struggling to pay rent I’m ashamed and overwhelmed. But I choose to have faith over fear as christians that’s all we can do. No matter your struggle, you can turn to God. He knows us personally and can give us strength to overcome our challenges. Heavenly and merciful Father, I come before your glorious throne today, in humble adoration please help me overcome my struggles and my constant fear of homelessness. You have provided this far and I’m so grateful for your love and mercy. I will continue to walk with faith! And not by sight!❤

The answer is simple. If fighting in the name of Jesus and the battle is truth vs error then we are not to defend ourselves but to let the Lord take charge of us for He is our defence. If we live, or if we die in a spiritual battle, as long as we do not use any of Satan's methods to defend truth, God will honour us if we honour Him.

A physical battle is where you have to defend yourself for yourself or your family's sake. This is true self-defence. This a man is called to do as the protector of his wife and children and family. This is why men have greater physical strength naturally on the whole as women.

And so to sum up:

Spiritual Battles - we are not to use self defence.

Physical Battles - we have a God-given right defend ourselves in order to protect ourselves and families and the weak and oppressed.

Either way, in both scenarios prayer is the key, and to be open to the Holy Spirit's guidance. We must be in constant communion with God. He will let us know whether to flee or fight in any situation.

I agree with Mr. Kee Ford. If a situation arises where protecting family, friends or a person I do not know from bodily harm or death I believe I must act.

Great Topic 👍🏽/ I'm retired Military three deployments....being a Christian it's hard because I wasn't going to let the enemy just try and kill me...Yet I prayed and carried God everywhere I went. Common sense plus Jesus....I would have to talk about it instead of writing about it...

God gives you discernment - to stay out of certain areas and situations

You better defend yourself....This shouldn't even be a matter of discussion.

Whether Christian or not, we all fall under the law, and this includes self-protection. However, the law and its practical application are two different things. In terms of self-defense, even if someone has followed the law to the letter in a certain situation, they may still lose when it comes to the interpretation of their actions by those who are supposed to make decisions.

I am a Christian and have been over a decade. Yet, I also have a martial arts background. So yes I have a right to defend myself. That's what martial arts is created for: Self-defense.

You say you are following the apostles doctrine. So give me 1 example of the apostles defending themselves after Jesus Christ died and was raised again.

Sometimes I struggle with this topic, but the NT evidence seems to lean heavily towards a non-resistance stance. Every time the sword passage is brought up, no one seems to talk about the end of that passage:

Luke 22:37-38
"And He was counted with wrongdoers’; for that which refers to Me has its fulfillment". They said, “Lord, look, here are two swords.” And He said to them, “It is enough.”

I t seems that the fact that they HAD swords equated them to being WRONGDOERS. So why would we want to be considered among wrongdoers?

But so many passages talk about laying down your life and turning the other cheek and allowing God to have His vengeance. I do struggle sometimes though because I also have a wife and kids and consider what I would do in a scenario. Part of me isn't sure. Although one thing I can say for sure is that I constantly pray for safety and try to rely ultimately on God's protection.
And even if a scenario does come up, shouldn't we be more thoughtful about how to be peacemakers? Even calling on God in the moment?

How does Matt 5:44 factor into your discussion?

Defense of one's person and or family isn't a religious issue. It's a human issue. It is on that level that such a decision should be made IMO.

I respectfully disagree with the view that we're authorized by GOD to use self defense.

I believe that GOD says, avenge not yourselves...Vengeance belongs to GOD.

GOD also has ordained authorities for the purpose of executing judgment on those who seek to harm us.

He's authorized HIS people to be faithful to HIM, even if it causes us to lose our lives.

However, we can apprehend them until the authorities arrive, etc. Even Stephen didn't retaliate with violence when he was met with violence in Acts 7.

Just my Scriptural views. I truly enjoy your show. Keep up the good work in JESUS!

Yours in JESUS, Tre...
