Jane has always been portrayed as this intelligent beautiful woman. When she was neither. Henry VIII wanted her for her purity and mildness, she was the complete opposite of Anne. She could barely read or write and she was also quite homely. Had she died giving birth to a daughter, Henry wouldn’t have really cared. Just would have moved on to the next uterus. Because the only true villain in all of that, was Henry.

Edit: to shut so many of you up, please swap intelligent with educated. Way to miss the point by miles and kilometers that HENRY is the villain, the one who had ended one queen days before marrying the next. If you are wondering what side you’re on, that’s for you.

I watched a video profiling Henry's wives and when she got to Jane she mentioned Henry's wish to be buried with Jane because she was his true love and "...the only one who didn't love long enough to piss him off." And i realised how true that was. I think if she lived longer with him, Henry would most likely find a fault on her. I don't think she would have been beheaded given that she gave him a son or divorced because that would make Edward illegitimate, but i think he would have cast her aside at some point.

Henry was truly a narcissist of the highest order. The love bombing. The way he we would simply cut you off when he was done with you. And all the power of a king. These women didn’t stand a chance.

That’s all Henry really cared about. Having an heir and courting a woman into intimacy. When he didn’t get one and grew bored of the other, he moved on. These poor women were so heavily encouraged into accepting his repetitive affections and tricked into thinking they’d be the one to stick. But a cheater will always cheat

So many people at court, trying to shove their daughters at Henry VIII, playing him to gain power... the Bolyns, the Seymores, the Howards... it did NOT end well for most of them.

Henry put in his will to buried next to Jane, claiming that because she was his only true wife for having bore him a legitimate son. That son consequently died at the age of 15, having never lived long enough to be crowned as king. Anne Boylen got the last laugh from the grave, seeing as the only child they had together born alive, was a female, who went on to rule England for 44 years, after the death of her sister Mary at age 42. Elizabeth died at the age of 69 in 1603, having ruled longer than any Tudor. She also lived longer than both of her parents, and longer than any wife, or any other child Henry had. Upon her death, the last of the direct Tudor bloodline ended. 😅

Most people don't like Jane, saying she stole Anne's place. In realty, what could she do? She was a subject of the king, had to obey him for every request. The fact that she disobey him when he summoned her to his bed was a risk. And even though he was tired of Anne at that point, there was never a guarantee he would marry Jane after Anne's fall.

The moment he said " that you allow me to serve and worship you "
He meant " that you allow me to make you my new playtime "
And guess what, the naive girly happily agreed. Impressive 👏🏻

Jane knew what she was doing. She as well as Anne knew the cards they were playing, Jane just came off as more meek where as Anne was fiery & outspoken. Henry was a spoiled narcissistic brat

Poor Jane, she was loved and respected by the King but her life was too short

I think if Jane had lived he'd have tired of her too. He definitely loved Anne at one point but he was willing to kill her to have Jane. I don't think there'd have been an Anne of Cleves situation but I could see him dumping Jane for Catherine Howard. Crazy as it sounds.

These men. Using women to achieve their own ends. Ugh.

I think after Anne and her passion, he found peace and comfort in her gentleness

I'm glad they recast Jane in the next season.

They painted Jane as such an angel and Anne as such a wicked, evil wife. The sweet love story of the tornmented husband and the fair maiden who brings light into his dark marriage. Bleh. Had he not been married, i swear the way they represented their courtship could be out of a fairytale

Them telling her not to sleep with him is hilarious considering that not only did he cheat on Anne with her, he cheated on Catalina with her too while pursuing Anne 😂 that ship hasn't sailed, it's sunk

This scene is amusing to watch. Edward Seymour and his father did NOT get along: in fact, Edward left and divorced first wife, and had his sons from that marriage declared bastards, because his wife was having an affair with Edward’s father! The father, John Seymour, died in late 1536, about 6 months after this poorly written scene.

I find it strange she was an unmarried maid at 25-6. Seems very old for a woman not to be married back then.
