Taotao ATM150-A Evo scooter - CVT noise + belt vibration

Taotao ATM150-A Evo Chinese scooter 150cc GY6. This video shows a CVT noise problem with chatter and belt vibration from speeds of 0-30 mph.

Solved mine. It was that heavier entire clutch assembly that causes belt to vibrate. Dynamic imbalance causes it to vibrate and transmitted to the belt via the torque pulley. Buy an expensive clutch assembly that is dynamically balance and youll see the difference.

Very helpful seeing it operating... Sound like you need a little wd40 on the belt.

I have the same problem with a 50, if i hit around 43 mph it vibrates like this, above and below that speed and it's fine.

The belt is worn out and stretched. That is what causes this.

change center spring. 👍🏻
if your using 1000, change to 1200.

Brand new scooter. Had belt slap, swapped it for another brand new scooter, same belt slap. Then changed the factory belt with another new factory CVT belt.
Same problem!
Could it be 1)   Is the standard factory belt the problem?

Too long or too short? 


2)  Maybe Shims need to be added or removed?


3)  Could the clutch bell housing be causing the belt to be doing that slow speed vibrating. (Warped or unbalanced)


4)  Other?

Determined the problem. Tail pipe to swing arm bolt was loose and chattering.

Is that clunk sound normal when the variator stops moving? Mine makes that sound when i turn it off. Never had a scooter do that before. Thanks

thank God I watched this video, I had exactly the same thing happening and it was my exhaust mounting bolts, one was very loose and the other slightly loose

tightened them and it was fine

I've got the same model and chattering problem.... So my swing arm bolt is loose and needs tightening???

When my scooter is at 4500rpm, it has some slapping sound, is it from the cvt?
