OK, as we well know, Ancestry DNA (as well as other companies) CLAIM their testing is largely accurate, but lately, they have been sending customers 'updated reports'. Supposedly, the process becomes more accurate as the pool of participants increases over the years, which provides more geographical specificity. My latest Ancestry DNA results indicate I am 72% Greece & Albania; 24% The Balkans; 3% Northern Italy; 1% South Central Asia! Again, my direct ancestry lineage is only known to have come from both Perista and Platanos (my father's and my mother's side, respectively). The fact that I got non-Greek results too, indicates that my ancestors came from these other parts, probably going back hundreds of years! MIND BLOWING! If anyone wishes to share THEIR results, or provide ANY information on Perista's or Platanos' ancestors going back in time, it would be appreciated.

Well, my Ancestry DNA results are in. And even though my grandparents hail from Perista and Platanos, the results indicate that I am only 68% Greek. My mother got 69% Greek. The rest of our genetic profile and backround indicate a strong Eastern European backround, with about 4% Asian as well. I even had a 1% Pacific Islander in there too! I am not telling you all this to start an argument. I just find it beyond fascinating that I got these results, which from what I understand, are very typical. I am still trying to understand what exactly they mean. Obviously, as a proud Greek whose ancestors lived in the mountains, probably for at least a few centuries, I do consider myself Greek geographically. BUT, it cannot be denied that going back several centuries, there probably were many familes that emigrated to Greece from other parts of Europe, or even Asia. The DNA science does not lie. How do you feel about the fact that many people are now taking advantage of this technology, and making surprising discoveries about their real ancestry? I would be curious to hear your opinion. Thank you. Long live Hellas!

Based upon historical documentation, I have proof of the village being established prior to the 11th century. As for heritage I can say that I and my wife's families have Greek roots many centuries back.

Hello. Do you have any information on the past history of Perista? When was the town first built and why? Where did the original settlers come from, etc.? Thank you.
