As a Seahawks fan this is scary. But I'm happy for Stafford. He deserves to be on a winning franchise. Rams just got even scarier.

Nobody has any respect for Stafford. Dude can't run like Watson, but his arm/football IQ is a different story

My line of thinking is that Lions GM Brad Holmes will tackle QB Jared Goff's $106M (4-year) in stride and crown him as QB of the future. He was the DOCS while with the Rams, and I'm sure he has no problems marrying himself to the QB he was high on coming out in 2016. This now gives Holmes the draft flexibility at No. 7 to strike a trade-down while throwing SMOKE-SCREENS for a team interested in a top-3 QB in this year's draft.

Lions have a plethora of needs across the board, and the flexibility with addition of Goff, allows him to go BPA at No. 7. Possibly WR Ja'Marr Chase or WR Jaylen Waddle if either one is sitting there. This gives Goff an offensive weapon outside the numbers. If both players are off the board or if a team is willing to trade up for a QB, they can then trade back, pick up draft capital (have more darts at the board) and select OL in the 12-19 range like OT Christian Darrisaw. They can also get defensive with CB Patrick Surtain to ease the blow of losing CB Darius Slay or take on a guy like DT Christian Barmore.

Furthermore, the fact that GM Brad Holmes yielded two 1st-round picks over the next two years, gives them draft flexibility entering those 2022 and 2023 drafts. The two 1st-round picks allows them to manipulate the draft how they see fit. They can trade up for a coveted prospect at a position of need or trade down to stockpile more picks. The options are endless.

While I do believe the Rams are instant winners when it comes to the short-game (Super Bowl contender) and wiping hands clean of QB Jared Goff's contract, the Lions long-term game is what makes this trade a win for them in my book. Great job by new Lions GM Brad Holmes for pulling off this deal with so many other teams also in play.

Matt stafford is very under rated. Get him a good team and he will do great things. I’m glad Detroit decided not to hurt his career anymore.

waiting for "trades like this have almost never helped either team" - one struggling to win now, the other struggling to re-boot, one will spend their future, the other will hope for one.

IMO, both teams won in that trade. That’s how normative trading is supposed to work.

Fun fact. It was Stafford who won the one billion dollar Mega Millions jackpot.

This is a win-win. Rams are win-now, Lions can wait with picks, trying to rebuild

I would have given Goff another chance to be honest. I know Detroit was injured this year but still

The Charles James one is hilarious because it's true since everyone was saying that teams would basically use Stafford as a bargaining chip if the Texans were asking for too much... seriously now Houston would have to be braindead not to trade Watson with all the trade capital he would bring it.

The rams window just got smaller, two years max there defence is gonna have to win them most games plus they gave up two first rounders lol

Ford family should sell the damn team to St Louis. It's time to sell if the teams total playoff victories in the last 40+ years can be counted on one hand without a thumb. Give us a damn break. That's not a functional team, that's a goddamn tax shelter.

Lol these old age QBs who only throw the ball get so much hate when they’re not throwing for 4, 000+ and 40 touchdowns every year.
