One with more range would be great for camper conversions.

I drive an E Transit Van. Out of 19. 9 are currently in the shop for repairs. Cheaply Built. It's the YUGO of EVS.

As a nitpick: SAE J3400 (NACS) allows up to 277V AC L2 charging - this may not seem like much, but it will make it much simpler and cheaper to install L2 chargers at commercial, industrial and dense residential locations which usually have power coming from the grid at 480V/3 phase. Any single phase to neutral is 277V, so you can hook in directly. Dropping to 208-240V requires the customer to operate one or more additional transformers - which often don't have much (if any) spare capacity even if the 480V/3phase does have plenty of capacity.

Ford E-Transit electric van gets 32% more range & 50% faster charging

great so it will now do 110 miles and charge in 7 hour's

now this has made me cry with laughter... we had one on loan to use as a parts delivery van once loaded up it managed 59 miles and we had he L2 H2 variant

We desperately want electric vans for our business, but none have the range we need. We have to drive gas and diesel machines. We have orders in for several Cybertrucks to haul custom trailers, but we really need an electric van with 300 mile range. Just nothing available yet. I would change my ICE Ford Transit vans to electric in a heartbeat. I just can't yet.

Ford needs to do what the leading car manufacturers are doing. They need to build an EV only Transit on an EV chassis with structural batteries, thus have a practical range and weight. And the charge speed needs to be much higher, this is a commercial vehicle and time is money.

160 isn’t bad. It would be an acceptable, but just barely, range for an RV version since you’d be able to drive for 2h between charges. 2-3 hours is the typical time between stops in an RV. Bump it up to 200 miles and we’re good.

The ICE Ford transit were great, so hopefully their electric version will be good at some point.

Every one who doesn’t count has an opinion.

Amazing how few miles a van does every day and so while the improvement is worthy, the old one will be perfect for many users.

A lot of vans do more than 200 miles in a normal working day. With that in mind, a minimum battery capacity of 100 kWh is more realistic for those drivers. Of course, if more White Van Drivers®drove within the speed limits, then that would help to improve driving range significantly...

Waiting for these to get closer to 400 mile range and be able to add 100 miles in 15 minutes. But my 64k question is about using the OEM A/C while parked overnight. How much KWH would it use and can it cool/ventilate 2/3 of the cargo area on the smaller/lower van? I don't need it ice cold, but am in Florida. I have this idea for an EV Van conversion where I open no holes in the roof, but rather rely on the A/C vents, fans and compressor to ventilate and cool the van. In 1/3 back half of the van I would have a hot space I would have all my appliances with a strong fans vent out the sides to push hot air out and pull cooler air from the OEM A/C set to fresh air mode. Free of holes, I would like to place a single 500 watt solar panel over the entire living space of the van to help maintain my battery while in the sun. I would insulate the ceiling and walls with 2 inch of foam.

EVs are a no brainer for local delivery businesses. All about efficiency and running costs.

Still not good enough for many fleets /vehicle operators. Charge speed is fine. Battery capacity needs to double again. We use E-350 or E-450, dully axle in the rear with an ambulance box on the back. Average truck does 150-175 miles per shift, and then goes right back out again for another shift. Vehicles have GVWR in the 12K lbs range.

Brightdrop is longest range at over 300 due to dual motor however limited applications at the the moment. The battery pack is not the issue its the motor needs to be dual.

@ 1:13, When Ford first introduced the Transit EV van, Ford’s webpage said its staff had conducted a comprehensive research as to the typical range needed by van owners. Ford concluded that about 75 miles range is typical, and hence, the 100 miles battery range is more than sufficient. On the other hand, the same van but powered by an ICE has a 27 gallon fuel tank giving the van about 350 miles range. Ford is either scamming you or its right hand doesn’t know what its left hand is doing. Very troubling.

I believe they have their place and with this range they are ok for in city deliveries, work vans etc. They are not supposed to replace all the diesel fleet, as believe it or not in long routes (which does exist in EU for sure for vans up to 3, 5 tons) diesels are more efficient at speed with load. To my surprise Ford communicates this clearly. Amazing. We are improving and manufacturers don't try to make us swallow the zero emission BS.

Wondering if Canoo will make it. Not everybody needs a van as big and heavy as E Transit. A Tesla with a shell and higher roof would be nice! Camping mode! Even the E Transit for a van lifer who stayed 99% in one county seems like a winner, and be able to draw from the HV or use heat pump for comfort also necessary.
