In this video, I am sharing my tips and tricks to stocking in your prepper pantry! My community members came through with their tips too! I can talk all day about the prepper pantry! This was a fun video to make and I love showing off my prepper pantry too. This pantry is 10 years in the making, so don't compare yourself to me! We are where we are in our journey of preparedness! I had a pretty awful setback! I had a jar break a seal and get infested with maggots! GROSS! I was able to clean that out and get everything set to rights.

Welcome to The Biggs Prep! The intention of this channel is to share all things prepping. Mr Biggs and I have been in the preparedness game a long time. Prepping is a huge passion of ours. It is a marathon and not a sprint. We are always up for learning something new and sharing our experience too. We share our thoughts on current events and how we are responding to them with a preparedness mindset.

We live in the middle of the Ocala National Forest. Prepping is a part of our everyday life. Hunting, gathering, foraging and gardening is always on the agenda. I love doing prepper pantry shopping hauls! I'm all about prepper skills too! I am not a prepping expert. I am only sharing what we do and how we are preparing for all sort of different scenarios.

I absolutely love this video Cynthia!! I think the most important tip for a prepper pantry is to just start and be creative in finding room for your preps!! Another great video with wonderful info...there were some sound issues where I couldn't hear everything.

Don't forget your condiments! Ketchup, mustard, soy sauce, hot sauce, maple syrup, pesto, salsa, and curry paste all keep well long term and will go a long way to alleviating food fatigue with basic staples.

Hi Cynthia, your pantry is absolutely wonderful!!! All your shelves match. I picked up some heavy duty plastic shelving units. I bought 2. Each shelf holds 250 pounds. But they aren't very visually appealing. Tomorrow it's supposed to cold and rainy. I'm staying inside and canning pint jars of lentil soup. I love it but hubby doesn't. It's nice to have MRE'S in pints, for one person. I have quite a variety of spices stocked up but I just realized I don't have any basil. Maybe I'll go to town next week. I'm sorry to hear that you had omicron. I hope that you're doing better.

Big find at dollar tree.. Yardley 18 count large disposable washcloths. I hve bought their soaps at Walmart so I figured these should be good too if when there's no water or don't feel like showering. #bigwin

Love these organizing tips. This has got me brainstorming for more ideas on storage. That jar you removed... Oh my goodness. I can't even imagine. 🤢I just found evidence of a mouse in my basement that got in to my dry goods that I had vacuum sealed but did not put away in a tote. I got lazy and guess what... boom. I lost 4 bags of stuffing mix and a big bag of oats. (sigh) Lesson learned to keep on top of things.

Lovely Video. In my prepping experience I have not hesitated to spend upwards of a $100 (and many times even more) for a single online item to completely check it off the list for a years worth of having that product. Examples are: Dehydrated potatoes in bulk 20 lb boxes, 25 lb bags of TVP, 100 plus lbs of egg noodles, and grains of course, and more.

But my buying mindset is not just for a week or month ahead, but for next year and beyond, what I will have to eat. Plus pet food, dry and wet, one great way to help with having a years worth of pet food is to get cans of $1. tuna when you can. It's actually cheaper than regular cans and better quality. My local Dollar General store might think I am nuts when I buy 30 or 40 cans at a time, but it's for my cat's long term future.

With all the dark cloud storm warnings about the future. Now may not be the best time to be conservative in limiting our spending on our food preps. I have retrained myself to think of what money I am not spending on food can buy if I had spent it on food. That $100/month internet, cable or phone bill could be buying your family the food you will one day need. My advice, take a serious look at your monthly budget, strip down and try to remove the expenses not going to buying food. Good luck everyone!

Yep those little pantry critters can be a PAIN. I canned some veggies where I HATED the texture so much. It was just sitting on my shelf. Than I had the bright I idea of just dumping the juice in my veg broth, when I made soups and just throwing the veggies out. I'm sure I got most of the vitamins.

Okay. I am poor. I spent 4 years of prepping on $1 to $2 a week. I had to start cheap. My advice is to start small and build it up based on what you eat.

I purchased the food gallon containers with lids from the Dollar Tree. I bought 3 of them. LaModerna pasta was cheap. I filled those containers as a base for meals. Pasta meals with sauces and different meats and vegetables added make a decent meal. I then started on my sauces for my pasta. I found that a basic tomato paste or tomato sauce was in my price range. I purchase cases of 24 cans of Iberia basic tomato sauce for $10.08 on Amazon. It is basic so I know that I have to add the extras for flavor. They are smaller cans but since I live alone, it means less chance of a half of a jar of tomato sauce going bad in my fridge.

Next, I decided to stock bouillon cubes. One bouillon cube makes a small batch of soup. Bouillon comes in a different flavors. Bouillon cubes take up less space than cartons of stock or cans of broth. You can add whatever you like for your soup. I stocked up on dehydrated vegetables for my soups.

Everyone is different with unique tastes.

What works for one person might not work for you.

Three ways I deal with mushy asparagus:

1.) Mash it, season it (I often use salt, garlic, lemon pepper, maybe a little mayo, or even some ranch dressing powder, just experiment, etc) Use it as a spread on buttered bread. It's very tasty and was quite popular a few years ago as a fancy tea sandwich!

2.) Put it in the blender with a little chicken stock, butter and seasonings, and use it as a sauce over baked chicken breasts, even over buttered pasta, etc.

3.) Create a creamed soup from it. Restaurants often do this and charge quite a bit for it. It is extra delicious if you use chicken stock, half and half, or whole whipping cream in the soup with a touch of parmesan and croutons as garnish.

I hope this helps. I have a waste not, want not mentality. Google is filled with recipes you can use if you don't cook by feel, touch, and smell.

For those like me with limited storage space, consider under the bed storage bins. I bought several collapsible with zip closures for additional canned food storage space.
