My favorite Philosophy professor defined Philosophy as "The study of the presuppositions of every field of thought."

If you ask Gilles Deleuze, Philosophy is the exploration of the plane of immanence composed of constellations of constitutive forces that can be abstracted from bodies and states of affairs. It makes sense when think about it.... for forty years... All jokes aside, thank you professor. You do amazing work and I appreciate your commitment to providing free, and high quality, philosophy education. Bravo 👏🏼

It’s fascinating how hard it is to define philosophy when it is itself a discipline that answers ‘what is x?’ questions.

I am always glad to get information from you!

You're a very clear teacher for a sometimes abstruse subject. Would you consider making a video on Plato's conception of the sophists and who their modern counterparts might be?

Another good one. I defined it as an area, attitude, method, application, and system.

Thank you. I constantly need to be reminded that the starting points of knowledge are as important to get right as all the particular forms that we utilize in our daily lives. You did that to me.

Professor Bonevac, thank you for uploading these videos. The ones on Kripke were very much helpful. I would like to ask you an unrelated question, unfortunately here since I couldn’t find you on Twitter. Are you planning on endorsing Trump this next election?

It is interesting that there is not a single philosopher in the animal kingdom, they are all so busy looking for food from sunrise till sunset. When the human tribe starts increasing in number, there is always one person who creates a niche for himself through entertaining others and he is given alms by those who grow food. The growers of food are somehow persuaded that they need to be entertained and need to pray so that the crop will grow better. Then the Witchdoctor and Raindancer and the Fortune teller started forming with the intention of all riding on the back of those who grow food and build shelters, while they become philosophers, thinking that there is a better way to think. That is the manner in which most servicing professions were formed, with people thinking that they can entertain others for a living. Philosophy is basically discussing what was pointed out, about achieving a better manner how to think, but never handling the plow and the rake for finding abetter manner how to get a better crop or how to hunt or how to build a better fishing boat or a better house

Basically, that was the philosophy of how vociferous professions came out to be, where for thousands of years, all religions and all philosophies never produced a single tangible and guaranteed product for the comfort of the family members. The world lived in poverty and dirt with open sewers and sickness, till the engineering fraternity came to be around 1800 when using silent logic, the talking stopped, and in silence, the rational logic of engineering put together a few movements which resulted in a productive silent machine, that eased the life of all those who worked the land and sea for a living, produced soap and sewers and toilets and a better plow and a better fishing rod. Meanwhile, the priest wanted his ringing bells to call the flock and the pulpit to rise higher and his voice would cover more ground. Then came the lawyer and the teacher who thought that they could do better in the formation of the children where all servicing professions never guarantee their services.

Europe went through the philosophical and artistic ages, entered the engineering and manufacturing era and all doers felt so disrespected that they all told their children to go back to the vociferous servicing philosophical industries. Since 1970=80 most of the manufacturing industries left Europe and US and made it to China and India. Europe and US now aim to be a service and information and influential speaker economy, where nearly all manufacturing industries have slipped away to other countries. Unable to go back to the production industries, most people now, what to do what feels good and instinctive, but not what is real and needs a long preparation, and so, most philosophical communities will slide back into superstition and darkness of trying to find ways how to think better, using software language symbols, always staying within the boundaries of the shadows and images and illusions of languages, without ever picking up some cold tool, and in silence to go and do a good day's work, directly raising and finding food and water or building the hardware of a home shelter, Now, improving the philosophy of printing money has taken over the old silent manufacturing skills.
