Volts, Amps, and Watts Explained | Understanding Home Energy Use | OUPES Beginner's Guide

In this video we are going to explain how to measure electricity: by Volts, Amps & Watts.

Voltage represents the electrical pressure or "force" and remains constant like water pressure in a hose, whether the flow is moving or still - it always exerts an influence.
Amperage signifies the flow rate of electricity, with higher amp ratings requiring thicker wiring to safely connect components just as fatter garden hoses transport greater water volumes.
Watts equals volts multiplied by amps, revealing the total electrical load as both voltage and current factors combine - allowing you to properly size generators and devices for any power needs.
With a grasp of voltage, amperage and wattage, electricity calculations become straightforward.
