In this video titled EU4 - What is The Best Japanese Nation? - Europa Universalis 4 Tier List we take a look at What is the Best Daimyo in EU4. This video specifically is an EU4 Tier List where we rank all the daimyos in EU4 as well as some other nations in Japan ranging from F Tier to S Tier. Basically all the Japanese Nations in EU4 are ranked from worst to best. The tier list is put together based on several factors. National ideas, missions, achievements, starting position, provinces, size and more. If you don't know what Daimyos are in EU4, they are nations that are based in the region of Japan, which are basically like vassals of the Shogun, Ashikaga. Japan is one of the most fun regions to play in, in EU4 so I though it deserved a tier list. After watching this EU4 Tier List you will know what is the best daimyo in EU4. If you don't agree with my tier list, you can always post your own in the comments and you can tell me which daimyo or Japanese Nation you think is best in Europa Universalis 4, according to you.

If you enjoyed this video don't forget to leave a like and subscribe for more content in the future.

"So is the only daimyo that starts on an island"

But they...

But they all...

Japan is a bunch of...

Nevermind...

Love the list. Just one point I disagree on. Imo Shimazu is S tier for sure, at least A cause of it's OP ideas.

Ainu can be actualy pretty fun without the Mandate of Heaven (you can easily ally Ming thanks to it).

The daimyo that don't exist in 1444 makes sense when you realize what really happened with the sengoku Jidai.
Basically, the shogun's governors were being overthrown by the daimyo under them.
Almost all of the players in the Onin war were crippled by it and their powers gradually replaced.

Nanbu is surprisingly strong. It's home province being a mountain province helps a lot for the first few wars and the ideas are actually pretty good.

So becomes Amazing when you unlock the Pirate King reform. Since it's national ideas are all navy focused, keeping a steady supply of 3 star admirals is So easy

Great list, but personally, I would put Shimazu in S-Tier, with the same principle, of keeping their ideas and traditions when unifying. From personal exp, I would put them over Tokugawa any day. Shimazu has the perfect blend of mil/eco ideas, with a nice little trade steering (which is godly) thrown in the mix, you honestly cant beat it. Sure having AE reduction is nice, but the manpower recovery and landfire damage rounds it out IMO

Recently i played Uesugi and abused their starting position to do 8 humiliate wars before really expanding. Because they start with a pretty good leader that is young you have the points to dev your already decent land for deving and get those institutions right as they spawn. I had 30-40 innovativeness by 1500 and up on all techs. Personally I find that far better than starting with good ideas.

I did my first unification of Japan as Date, so seeing it in C tier hurt my soul.

Of course the great Oda clan number one. one of the three great unifier, the first nation to use matchlocks massively, and so many brilliant strategist Japan ever have in samurai age

Oda clan reminds me of Mongol at the time of temujin, so many great generals and fights with unorthodox tactics, the old ways cannot withstand Oda advancement of science progress

Goddamn Tokugawa made Japan an isolationist country lol

I think Uesugi should be in the S tier. A big nation with great ideas.

Nanbu and Date have some pretty good tall ideas but yeah if you aren't playing tall they aren't worth it.

Japan has so many great Ideas but sadly you have to pick only one of them.

I think Takeda can be A Tier. Specially once you get Shingen as the Daimyo. It allows you to expand fast, take Musashi (basically present day Tokyo) and you will have 2 Landmarks. If you get rid of Uesugi you basically have the entire North to take control of, and you can ally and get rid of Tokugawa and Oda before they become powerhouses.

I just played as Kono’s Japan. Although early game is hard, once you unite and keep the ideas, it’s great for a colonial sea based Japanese empire. It’s based more in the philosophy of “the enemy has to land on our shores first”. It’s fun.
