The interior door handles are made electronically to prevent opening them while a car or a pedestrian or bicyclist passing close to the car. It uses the blind spot monitoring system and remains activated for 3 minutes after turning off the car.

Small correction: there is Lane Changing Assist on certain trims. Depends on the trim level.

You also forgot to mention the safety reason for the electronic door handles: it uses the Blindspot monitoring system and will stop you from opening the door into the path of a car or cyclist!

The other day in the LX600 vid I was like “I hope Doug reviews a less overkill Lexus SUV like the RX or something similar”. This is perfect

This car actually is the only one that has the electronic door release done right. All other cars have some button somewhere usually above the handle. But the door release button in this NX is exactly under your thumb when you grab the handle. It means that you can unlock and open the door with just one motion. Just grab and push. Unlike other cars, where you unlock the button, push the door with your elbow and then open it with your hand. I have not seen any other car with electronic door release buttun, that actually makes sense.

Love the door handles. Perfect for northeast winters... No more frozen door handles. All car makers should copy this. Or add door handle defrost system ☺️

The good 360 degree camera angle shows up when you’re in drive or reverse and its better than the bubble camera angle. I think Doug doesn’t know this.

Other than the Audi models this is the car I'd go for overall and it's probably the best in many aspects including of course reliability.

I drive a 2016 NX 200t, and it has one of the strangest quirks I have ever seen: a GPS-programmed imaginary clock.

There's no digital clock, only an analog clock. I looked through every option in the infotainment screen and gauge cluster, and nothing. Yet, when you cross time zones, the infotainment screen will alert you to the fact that you entered a new time zone and ask if you'd like to switch the clock over. If you press yes, absolutely nothing happens. There is no digital clock for it to change, and the analog clock still needs to be manually adjusted.

I drive a Gen 1 NX300H AWD and love it for a few reasons. It is supremely reliable and very comfortable for long drives. I also have Method wheels and Falken wildpeak tires on it and drive it offroad often. It is really fun to rip around on trails and floats over bumps like a rally car when at speed. It’s a very versatile and quality vehicle that will last a long long time with one major downside and that’s the engine drone with the hybrid drivetrain and cvt transmission. I plan to seriously consider this new model simply for the tech upgrades which are top of the class.

Doug is still in awe of center consoles that open in 2 directions. Magic

Just got the base 250 Model at $40k and it’s actually surprisingly decent. Heated seats is a standard, blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist. Only caveat, no rear sensors when backing up

I see the design hasn't changed much on the outside but the interior looks pretty good now

I remember a lot of flak on the last N saying it was too average and just under every other competitor, midway through the video but glad to hear that Lexus took that feedback and learned from it. Beautiful so far.

Doug,
A couple suggestions from a long-time viewer here:

1. It was better when you took us through each item of the Doug Score. Just showing the summary without any reasoning pretty much renders the system useless.

2. The screenshots of the scores at the end compare models that are way too similar. These comparisons could be more insightful if you broadened the field and threw in some wildcards.

3. Your best videos aren’t of the weirdest or rarest cars, but rather of cars we THOUGHT we knew but didn’t, that you provide us a fresh perspective on. They’re the videos where the *sum* of the quirks is greater than any of the quirks themselves.

Doug is the type of guy to wear a shirt that says "I potato Idaho" on it while reviewing a small crossover.

As a Lexus employee it has been very nice to see reviews of all the new cars that have rolled out and seeing if I agree!!

8:40 - Doug! If you hit that button while shifted in drive, it shows a lot more - it’s almost useless while in park

I’ve been driving this 2022 NX as a loaner while my ES 350 is at the dealership. It’s an amazing car. I love it!
