POV you don't have magic storage mod

Great house design ❤

A alternative house design (if this one doesn't fit your fancy) is by Salendrak video is called "Housing Basics (Terraria 1.4 Beginner's Guide Series)", it's the one I use for no mod playthroughs

I feel like I have never truly cared about my base in Terraria but this guide made me want to try something new on my next playthrough. Thank you so much!

I love this! I'm always a sucker for efficient starting base but I never end up doing it because I can't really think of what I'd need on a fresh run.

I like Tall Gates post-Skeletron instead of doors. When you start getting good mounts for horizontal travel you may want to enter in your house without having to drop from your mount, and Tall Gates let you that. The only problem with this is that you can't do the Door trick with the platforms that make zombies unable to open doors.. But after beating Skeletron, you get access to the Mechanic which makes you able to do simple wire contraptions and fix that problem easily.

Just wire the trapdoors to levers, or use actuators to actually wall the gates basically. After you beat The Twins and/or The Destroyer, you can also craft Logic Sensors (Day) and (Night) to automate this. Just be sure to create a way to leave the house comfortably during the time the gates are closed

I like using different chests instead of item frames, like an Ivy Chest for plants and a Water Chest for potions, it makes a much more compact storage area.

for the defences the lava should be very thin so we can get the loot instead of it burning but really good guide

The chest naming feature is so underused. I dont even label my chest with itemframes I just name them and the name shows up when you hover over the chest. I usually also then use different types of chest to make it easier to distinguish.

Yes. I love this design. Excellent layout, great video!!

I would argue that using item frames as labels for your chests is a waste of space, I just simply rename my chests so that all you do is hover over the chest to see it's contents and after regular use you know instinctively what is stored where.
Great video though, thanks 👊🏼

Oh this is a really fun video.
I definetly think it could be helpful to a lot of people.
Great job!

For potions, i move my potion chest along with plant chest on my garden, because you need water for crafting so they're all in a seperate room

personally I prefer to make my home base inside a marble biome since there are no enemies that spawn that are capable of phasing through walls. On top of that corruption doesn't go through marble.

It is hyper efficient but not very pretty. I prefer a storage building, crafting building, housing etc…

Ok this is very cool. I wanted this kind of "perfect base" for a long time, and I sort of made one, but it is much more complicated for practically the same functionality. The defense systems alone use like 3 different hoiks on each side lol.

Bro, where were you 10 years ago😅😂😂, from now on, im using this!

Personally, I find using item frames to mark chests to be space inefficient. So as an alternative, I use different kind of chests to label what items they hold (Even paint them for better recognizability)

I'd put the anvil below the work bench, so that you can put your piggie bank on the work bench.

What I do:
Shape my base like a pyramid. Remove the point and make a little pocket for lava.
My base is pretty wide on the bottom so I can fit two long rows of chests. On the foot of the pyramid I have chests suspended on a platform with all the stations on the bottom. The floor underneath only has enough space for chests and a torch every so often.
I label my chests with the chest type and name.
I make a designated place (in the basement) for all the plants to farm where also all the seeds, plants and potion making materials are found. If some materials are used for various things, I just keep another stack elsewhere in the storage.
