We don't tip because we pay a fair living wage. You tip for good service not because that's person relies on it to survive.

As for the friendliness in shops etc, it's not that we don't like polite service. We do. But we don't like false/fake politeness. All that 'HaVe A nIcE DaY!!!!' shite is cringey and fake. We don't like rude service but we hate fake niceness even more. If someone's just efficient and not rude, that's fine.

The video makes so sense, people in Europe pay by card everywhere and they can bank and transfer cash without leaving home. Made by someone who hasn't left the US i think.

Our servers etc are paid a living wage.
I'm in the UK, I've never tipped in a pub. But if we're out for a meal, say the bill comes to £32.80, I'd round it up to £35 if we had good service.
Tipping does happen but it's not expected and there's no pressure to.

Bleaching your teeth and replacing them with plastic is not "dental hygiene".

The sm8ley service.

Imagine you are in a psychological thriller movie, where you the protagonist knows something fishy is going on in town, and EVERYONE you ce across eith gives you an uncanny smile "everything is Imagine that scenario but grocery shopping. Its uncomfortable and wierd to force an employee to have a permanent smile when you know most dont like their job. It feels almost as if tue employees are trying to tell you something but they just cant.

That's the vibe I get at least. In Europe, people are either genuinely nice, or efficient with no emotion, and that comes as natural "look kid, im here because I meed the job, O dont give a damn about smiling". It shows you the reality of the situation, while forcing a fake smile just washes away any reality the employee is going through.

Russia: Business owner is superior, as a costumer you should be grateful you can buy here.

US: Costumer is king.

Western-Europe from my experience: Equals.

No! What is strange is when Americans say have a nice day with that fake mile, and you both know that the sentiment is not real and the conversation is only there to extract money from the customer as possible. Why is this? Because unlike in the U&SA the waiters in Britain are paid a decent wage and don't expect the customer to pay their wages. I am 75 and have never tipped a waiter in my life.

About the biased media. You can't be a 100% objective, but the news channels on our public and private channels do say the same things. They're not that different. Our 'serious' talkshows are also often trying to be objective (although that is harder as debates happen a lot). We don't have a 'right winged' news channel and a 'left winged' news channel

UK dental health is actually better than Americans but Americans go in for cosmetic dentistry.

In France, we aren't as smiley and proactive as in the States BUT we are extremely polite (even more than in England). The customer is not king and respect is expect from the customer in order to deserve the respect of the service person.
Politeness comes from greetings and quiet respect rather than acknowledgement and friendliness.
It is a cultural difference, not really a right or wrong kinda situation.
Now the one thing I really have trouble with as a European is what is tolerated and deemed "acceptable" for a customer to do in the States... Customers aren't kings, they are guest. And deserve great care, but they are guest nonetheless.

WRONG! Extract from a modern day dental report:-
Americans do not have better teeth than the English, new research suggests. Experts set out to challenge the idea – dating back more than a century – that the English have poor dental hygiene.

A team from the UK and the US examined data on thousands of people from the English Adult Dental Health Survey and the US National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. They looked for examples of missing teeth, adults’ perceptions of their oral health, and the effect of poor teeth on daily life such as pain, difficulty eating, avoiding smiling and social effects. Levels of education and household income were also examined.

The study showed that the average number of missing teeth was significantly higher in the US (7.31) than in England (6.97), and that people were more likely to suffer poor dental health because of socioeconomic factors if they lived in the US.

tipping is not mandatory in the US, don't believe everything, you read or hear on the internet, if I get bad service or the server is rude, I leave no more than .50 cents and servers do not go find you outside and asks for a bigger tip

The person at the checkout in Europe would be sitting down.

It is weird that a so-called employer in the American restaurant business only gives you a job without being obligated to pay a living wage for the work you do in his business. I guess that asshole has the right to fire you, too, at will. It's like: "You're fired, you're not allowed to use the premises of my business for your charity begging operation any longer". Another thing is the taxes that the retailers etc. do not show in the price. You have twenty bucks in your pocket and see something that is $19.99. Rude awakening at the cash register! Makes absolutely no sense at all, much less being consumer-friendly.
