Set in 1918, the film explores the origins of Pearl, the villainous character from X, and how the cabin, where the "massacre of X" takes place, was used as a boarding house during the war.

Hands down the best horror movie I have watched in YEARS, 10/10 would definitely recommend. Mia Goth's performance is absolutely outstanding (and truly disturbing)

So, I just watched Pearl after watching X last evening. And I must say that it is all Goth’s show! She’s fantastic and the main reason to watch this movie. . From the beginning, you can quickly tell that this character has some real issues, but deep down you’re hoping that things go right for her even though in the back of your mind you know she will fail. Goth’s performance helps with that, showing all the different sides of her character. She showcases an outstanding emotional range at every juncture in the film and you really don't know what is coming next which is unlike X. Pearl puts X into a good perspective as we can see the beginning of it all. A True psychological horror piece. And in that context, I could see how easy it would be to appease her, (so she won't kill you) from her character standpoint.

She has an edge to her that so few young women in film have today.

5 stars all day long. cany wait for Maxxine!
