I was always so afraid of being exposed to rabies because I was terrified of what the treatment would be like. I mean the treatment right after the exposure, before there are any symptoms. It was nowhere near as scary as I thought. Your weight determines how many injections you get to begin with. I must have been 140 or 150 lbs. I got four shots. After that there was a series of one shot every week or every two weeks. The shots were not painful at all. If you think you have come into contact with a rabid animal, the treatment isn't bad at all. Believe me, you do not want to wait until the symptoms show up.

What does Rabies do other than make you not want to drink water? Like what are some side effects? I feel like someone here would have better answers than google.

I’ve read that putting the patient in an induced coma, administer an IV antiviral, and allow her to ride out infection. This has been done only a couple times, so is not a cure.

My mom doesn't have rabies but she has a fear of water but it not bad enough for her to stay away from water she just scared of going over her head in places where she can't see under her feet
