Why is Kaliningrad a Part of Russia? | There's a part of Russia that is completely blocked off and separated from mainland Russia. In this video, I discuss why that is and why its so important to Russia.
I hope you enjoy(ed) the video! Thank you and have a good day :)

I have heard of Russia's strange exclave in Kaliningrad, but I found this informative. Thanks for the video!

He never talked about the polish Lithuanians commonwealth or Prussia and the German empire he actually missed a lot of its history.

So Trebbie, will you do a video on the history on why Alaska has its southern panhandle and why British Columbia doesn’t own it instead? Would love to hear the history on this.

Kinda insane how this tiny piece of land is so useful for Russia. I wonder how Russia would be if it never got Kaliningrad.

You do a good job with these videos, Trebbie. I've always loved history. It became one of my majors when I went to Central Michigan University (Fire up, Chips!). I find it refreshing when a young person develops an interest in history.

The state that I live in, Michigan, has an exclave at the mouth of the Maumee River. It's on the tip of a little peninsula that sticks ot into Lake Erie. It's only about 350 acres big. There are apartments and condos on this exclave. School aged kids that live there have to go through the northern part of Toledo to get back to Michigan to go to school. I don't remember why they just didn't let Ohio have those 350 acres when they drew the border. I'll have to look it up.

Your content really good, but history of this piece of land not so easy.

0:19 Showing the Maps, especially in regards to Germany, the Teutonic Order and the Importance of baltic domination really is amazing.
Also, huge props for including a Map of Germany pre-WW2 with the internationally recognized Areas of the then German State.
It sounds dumb but it really doesn't help putting into perspective how this world came to be the way it is if you just show a big Map and make everything red with the big "Pinwheel" in the Middle. It doesn't tell the whole story, and way too many history channels do just that, not show the borders of the time.

my family derives from that aerea for centuries.. my father was born in Königsberg, my grandma too etc... i got german-austrian and lithuanian heritage from my fathers side... but never had been living Slavic tribes up there. Baltic tribes yes.. but unfortunately Russia kept, probably for military reasons in the Russian SSR and did apply it to the Lithuanian one. Todays Lithuania probably deeply regrets the decision in the 50's...

Man I love it when YouTubers don’t waste time to explain something small, like most geography channel take a whole 5 minutes just to get to the point. Before that they are just blabbering about it’s history

Kaliningrad was in the past Czech territory

and yes, I know it's a meme, but it would be so great if the Czech Republic had a sea

The comments of the Germans and their sympathizers about Kaliningrad worried me. Apparently, the denazification failed, and the necessary implementation of Theodor Kaufman's plan

It was not renamed in a hurry, but in honor of fellow party member Kalinin.
