Why is Kaliningrad a Part of Russia?

Many people might not know where Kaliningrad is but if you hear the name, you would guess it’s connected to Russia. And you’d be right.
However, Kaliningrad isn’t the original name. The Eastern European territory was once known as Konigsberg – a very German-sounding name. Also correct.
So how did a territory once belonging to Germany end up with Russia?

This video does not intend to show Crimea as a legal part of Russia. But to show the territories that are full under Russian administrative control in this moment.
I hope you will enjoy the video and if you haven't subscribed already, be sure to do it for more interesting videos! Thank you!

Interesting, but the maps are awful. You didnˋt even show the full region of Prussia that got split up after the 2 WW and created the exclave. Not to mention the other maps of „Germany“, the „Prussian Empire“ (never has been a state) and so on.

0:48 The Baltic Sea is to the West, not East of Kaliningrad.

wtf with the map markings which are incorrect. Kaliningrad is the same name for city and region but under germans after WW1 (cause West Prusia with Gdansk (semi-autonomous city) was taken by Poland) was East Prusia region with regional capital Kionensberg.

Is this Alt history on purpose? Wow, this is so wrong, not only the maps but everything, that I started to think you actually troll us. What German Empire in the 16th century? What war between Russia and that "German Empire" back then? Kaliningrad a Russian province in the 17th and the 18th century? Where's the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, who controlled this land in that age as a fiefdom and was in fact an actual state whereas no actual German Empire existed until the 19th century (please, don't argue with the HRE being one). Soviet Union marked as just Russia at times? Russia was about 50% of the USSR's population only! Geez, this is awful, I rarely give dislikes, but guys, please, if you read this, it deserves one.

0:48 The Baltic Sea is to the West, not East of Kaliningrad (as already mentioned in another comment).

Königsberg was founded in 1255 by the Teutonic Knights (which isn't mentioned in the video).

State of the Teutonic Order was formed by the knights of the Teutonic Order during the 13th century, with the Kingdom of Prussia coming into being centuries later. So, this so-called "Prussian Empire" as it's called in the video was not around in the 13th century 1:12.

The German Empire was founded in 1871 (from the Kingdom of Prussia), and so Königsberg did not become part of the German Empire in the 16th century, as stated in the video 1:41.

East Prussia, including Königsberg, was occupied by Russia for just over 4 years during the seven years war, so it's hardly worth a mention with relation to its history.

4:40 "in 1948 about 400, 000 Soviet civilians arrived" but you're graphic has "4000".

And now this is just a geopolitical reality. The population of Kaliningrad are all russian so nobody that's actually around the oblast wants it. For all legal, cultural and political measures it's not even really questioned. Lithuania and Poland already have large minority populations of many different kinds of balance out, they don't need a sudden shot of Russians to integrate.

Great video but Crimea is part of Ukraine, not Russia. The occupied territories have not been internationally recognized as part of Russia.
