I first heard about Kaliningrad as a child.
It had been known as Konigsberg, under Germany.
I learned about it in my first topology puzzle -- the 7 bridges of Konigsberg.

Konigsberg has a river with two islands.
They are connected by 7 bridges.
One island has 3 bridges -- one to each side, and one to the other island.
The other island has 5 bridges - two to each side, and one to the other island.
The puzzle is -- can a man walk and cross each bridge only once??
If so, why?
If not, why not?

THAT is what Kaliningrad is famous for.

Напишу на русском. Как житель Калининграда, я могу сказать, что многие калининградцы, согласились бы перейти в ЕС, с сохранением жилья в области и получением нового гражданства. Но! Россия отдаст эту область, только тогда, когда в ней закончится оружие, а оружия здесь- ОЧЕНЬ много. Если тут есть ядерные головы, они тоже уйдут инициатору подобных желаний.
Одно дело- ударить таксу "забрать крым"
Другое дело- ударить питбуля "попытаться забрать Калининград"
Военным путем, Калининградскую область будет забрать легко и быстро! Но ракеты полетят в Вильнюс и Варшаву 100%, а это означает- 3-ая мировая((
Калининградская область- это пороховая "а может и ядерная" бочка, от удара по которой, урон пойдет на половину Европы "в лучшем случае", а в худшем- это выше написанная 3-ая мировая.

My family originates from Königsberg they had to fled after the war when the Russian occupation came. It was just divided into pieces nobody asked anyone if they wanted to join Russia back in the day. Perhaps they should have a referendum like they did in the Krim if the want to join Europe. That’s the way Russia does it.

so why would a certain group of people not feel the sanctions, tell this to the Ukrainians that feel the pain of the Russian actions every minute of the day. Isolate the Russians and make them protest their Hitler 2.0. They can stop this war and consequently many sanctions by ending the war. The bottom line its all in their own hands and to be fair Ukrain has not even started to attack Russian and its population so they are not feeling any of the pain yet. Maybe this should change!
