How to fix Discord mic cutting out? In this tutorial, I show you how to stop voice cutting out in Discord. If you're having issues where your mic / voice is cutting out in Discord, this can easily be fixed in the Discord settings. We can fix mic cutting out by changing the settings around voice activity input sensitivity. Let me know in the comments if you have any questions while you stop voice cutting out in Discord.

Follow the steps below to fix mic cutting out in Discord:
1. Open the Discord app on your Windows PC or Laptop.
2. Open the User Settings by selecting the gear next to your username in the bottom left.
3. In the left sidebar of the user settings select Voice & Video.
4. Toggle off Automatically determine input sensitivity under input sensitivity.
5. Now we need to adjust the input sensitivity so that it is just above any background noise but below the volume of your voice.
6. Once done adjusting the mic sensitivity you can close the Discord user settings.

How do I stop it from cutting out when I made a constant noise? For example when you go scream for awhile, Discord decides to just cut you off? How do I stop that?

no settings in discord fix this, i have the same issue on 5 different PCs. None of the settings fix it cutting out.
Mic works fine in every other application or game. Using lightcord fixed this issue for me instantly. I guess someone at discord fucked up well over a year ago and never bothered to fix the bug.

My mic doesn't detect any background noise and only seems to cut out when in discord, but any other voice recording device or app records and plays back my voice perfectly. I have already set my sensitivity on discord manually but the problem is persisting

To those of you whose voice keeps cutting out no matter what apparently that is a glitch. In regular voice chat it sounds completely fine. I just read this on reddit a couple minutes ago so I have yet to test this with my friends. Just ask if your voice is cutting out. If it is not cutting out just don't trust the voice test function.

My mic kept cutting out with my focusrite 2i2 and i've had to not use discord for over 2 years because of it lol. I had to install something called lightcord and disable auto gain control and echo cancellation and that fixed it. Bizarrely, doing the same on regular discord didnt work.

Thankyou, trying to talk to my brother on there was really annoying, he still is, but the audio is much better now without it sounding like a phone call cutting out every time he stopped talking.

This did not help. No matter what I do in the PC app, the mic keeps clipping and the software keeps damping the input. If you hum into the mic at a constant tone the volume will oscillate, even with all processing turned off. So there is baked in noise cancellation that you can't turn off. This is not a hardware issue as "listening" to the mic through windows sound properties shows the mic is clear and steady.

this didn't help at all. is there another fix?? currently for me discord works perfectly fine if i use my built in microphone, i only experience the issue when i'm using an external mic. whether it's an USB mic or a mic plugged in through my audio interface. I for sure know its not my equipment because I use my audio interface to record music/podcasts thru logic. I'm only having this issue with discord, and can't figure out a fix.

Hey, I have a simular issue, I wonder if you could help me with that. My sound in voice calls with others is perfectly fine, but if I do the mic test on discord it's totally laggy/cutting out. Do you know why that could be? I also recorded myself with other apps and i sound perfectly fine; again, its just the discord mic test in which I hear myself that way.

Anyone know if this will fix issues on PS5 and/or Xbox? Those are where I have the biggest complaints from my friends - when using an airpod on the phone, it works just fine

Hey mate, So I am trying my mic and it works on all platforms, but when I use it on discord it and talks it keeps accepting/declining the mic. So the sounds is really fkd. Feels like discord is trying to use it and some other app aswell. got any clues?
