In this tutorial, I show you how to fix Discord mic quality to improve sound and audio. There are several reasons why your microphone sounds bad in Discord. One of which is quiet microphone volume. If your microphone is quiet in Discord, you can increase the volume on your PC to 100%, while setting your Discord input volume to 90%. This will allow your microphone to be loud without distorting.
Another way to fix Discord microphone quality is to manually set the input sensitivity. Although Discord does a good job at automatically determining the input sensitivity, you can improve sound quality in Discord by setting it manually. You will want to move the slider between the speaking and non-speaking volume. Ideally, moving the slider closer to the non-speaking volume side will work best.
If your microphone is set to use the incorrect sample rate then this will result in bad Discord mic quality. You can fix the sample rate through the sound control panel. You will want to use the highest sample rate that is supported by your microphone.
A simple fix for bad mic quality in Discord is to ensure you're using the correct microphone. Sometimes bad sound quality can be due to the wrong device being selected. Often this is the case if your default device isn't set to your microphone.
Discord has noise suppression options which greatly help fix sound quality. In most cases you will want to use the Krisp noise suppression, however, you can try using the standard option as well.
If you are having issues where your friends can hear your PC sounds then turning on the "When I speak" attenuation option can help. This allows you to reduce your PC volume when you speak by a percentage you set using the slider.
As a last resort, you can try changing the audio subsystem in Discord. By default, the standard option should be set, which will work for most audio devices. However, some audio devices may sound better with the subsystem set to legacy. If changing the subsystem has no effect on your microphone quality then set it back to standard.
