Jigging has become one of the most popular sports fishing methods for targeting so many fish species around the world, due to the fact that it can be so effective when nothing else is getting results. The introduction of the slow pitch jig (also known as a butterfly jig, flutter jig or slow fall jig) has made a huge impact in recent years and for great reason. The basic idea of this amazing jig is to 'fall like a leaf' and flutter in the strike zone for as long as possible with devastating results. In this video, I take you through some popular rigging methods and explain why we rig these awesome lures the way we do to maximize your bite opportunities. The jig and assist rig size is extremely important and when matched correctly to your jigging rod can bring you amazing results. I hope this has been of interest to you, please leave a comment below as I would love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks for watching it.
Cheers Rich

Good work. I am a six year guide in SE Alaska and am just getting into the 'flutter jig' technique. Will let you know how it goes with halibut, lingcod, King salmon and black rockfish

If you were shore jigging or casting jigs would you add a swivel also? How about smaller jigs like 20g-50g. Same setup?

What hooks are being put on that lure? And can you use that jig to cast from shore?

I see that you rigged up both hooks in the same position. Can you rig in to hooks facing opposite directions? Can you tell me if there are any benefits to both facing the same or facing opposite. Look forward to hearing from you!

Doesnt the swivel cancel out the fluttering action when slow jigging? I was fishing that set up next to a fisherman that was catching all kinds of fish. He suggested that I use an 8 ring instead of a swivel. I've yet to try it out
