The “Great Britain” flag is the flag of the Kingdom of Great Britain before Ireland joined, making the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland that adds the Irish cross. The Northern Ireland flag you showed is also not official, the official flag of Northern Ireland is the Union Flag. Great Britain is one of many islands in the UK. Britain on its own however can be a political shorthand for the entire UK.
