A full Jack Johnson album of Buffett covers would actually be sick as hell

I am so bummed I did not even know this concert was in town, I would have love to go, I would have sat on any seat just so I could be there and experience it.

I travelled over 20 years as a safety officer within the big industrial construction world. I traveled many years and many hotels and motels…I would always ask the receptionist what’s going on in the new town I was in… I stopped for a night along the 5 freeway between San Diego and Newport Beach…as I parked I saw some lights across the street and then asked the receptionist what was going on across the street? She said some musician named jimmy buffet was doing a show at the rodeo grounds…bored I grabbed a pint of whiskey and headed that way after dropping my gear in the room. Driving through the parking lot I saw what looked like tourists with beach balls and parrots on their shoulder, both fake and real, with huge smiles and happy attitudes…I parked, the car next to me offers shots and a burger within one minute of exiting the truck. I partied my way to the ticket booth, paid ten bucks and had one of the best times ive ever had at a random show! Mind you I’m more Metallica and Van Halen, but I was an instant fan of the music and the audience participation, the beach balls, the joint’s going person to person…for a random night I became a huge fan of jimmy and the people that loved jimmy! Good good times

Mac should add Jack Johnson as a permanent vocal with the Reefers. Wish Zac would tour with them too!! This wound is still horribly raw.

Wish I had been there. Jimmy was one of a kind, will never be another like him. He lived the style of life almost all of us would die for and when I listen to his music I do live his lifestyle even if it's ever so slightly and for a very short time. And for that we thank you Jimmy.

1985... outside of the Oakland coliseum... Maria Mulder (opening act) singing "Midnight at the Oasis"... it's dark outside when Jimmy's limo pulls up... as he's walking towards me, I'm trying to look non-threatening with a Fender Telecaster neck and a permanent ink marker in hand... Jimmy says, "I don't fix'm, I just play'm." Took that treasure he signed straight to my truck and sprayed a coat of clear laquer over his signature. Years later I sold that "Jimmy Buffett Custom" guitar I built on craigslist to raise some money for a move to Hawaii. Got to live in "paradise" for 15 years before heading back to California. Thanks for sharing the dream Jimmy... Yes, I too, am a pirate.
