This lizard has one of the most unique abilities in the animal kingdom. Meet the Draco lizard, also known as the flying lizard or flying dragon. These arboreal lizards are capable of gliding flight, using extended membranes attached to their ribs as wings. While they can't achieve powered flight, they can glide as far as 60 meters (200 feet) in a single leap. They use this ability to avoid predators and move efficiently through the jungle. Found across Southeast Asia and Southern India, Draco lizards can reach up to 20 centimeters (8 inches) and weigh less than 30 grams. They are insectivorous, primarily feeding on ants and termites. They also have a bright flap of skin under their neck, called the dewlap, used for communication by moving it up and down rapidly. Their exceptional camouflage allows them to blend with tree trunks.
