Its not flying, there is no wings flapping, its not traveling into higher elevation! Its simply gliding.

It's interesting that George R.R. Martin attached his dragon's wings to the forearms for realism, despite real flying reptiles having wings detached from their forearns. ;)

huh... maybe that's how people invented dragons. imagine seeing this above you between trees. you don't know what it is and that it's small and it's too fast for your brain to process and analyze it, so your vision tricks you into thinking that it's a giant thing far away in the sky. and boom, "i saw something like a giant lizard with wings flying high in the sky today", "yeah, me too, i wonder what it is", and then there's this one Jerry guy says "it's actually a monster, you know, it can breathe fire and all that, it's very dangerous" and then people are like "holy sh*t, we have to tell others". and boom - dragons.
