► A 22-year-old woman has been jailed for eight-and-a-half years for perverting the course of justice, after falsely claiming to have been raped and trafficked by an Asian grooming gang.

Eleanor Williams from Cumbria even injured herself with a hammer to make it look like she was a victim.

The reasons why false accusations are so terrible are thus: It absolutely ruins a man's life, as it is extremely difficult to prove/disprove a rape allegation (which is why there's such a low conviction rate), and it introduces doubt in legitimate cases - harmful for everyone and totally inexcusable, 8 years is a fair sentence, maybe more

There should be a new mandatory sentence of a minimum of 20 years jail time for a woman 'IF' she is found guilty of false accusing a man of raping her.
The false accusations can destroy a man's family, career, mental health (some may become suicidal) and also putting him at risk of attacks from the public at large.
These type of women aren't fair on the genuine women women who have been rape victims.
So for these lying women, the punishment has to be severe

This makes me so angry for the victims of both men & woman who truly are a victim of abuse, rape and all the other things this disgusting woman claimed she had done to her. If that had really happened then the guys involved would of had the book thrown at them. I don’t think 8yrs is enough for the lengths she went to with her false allegations. A few people I know have been sexually assaulted, raped or/and physically abused in relationships and what it does to them destroys them and their world but quite often they don’t want to go to the police because they think they won’t get believed. I got mentally, financially and emotionally abused and sexually assaulted by my ex and I went to the police and luckily I got believed and they done something about it but that’s only because I had evidence. If I hadn’t I don’t think it would of been so clear cut.
