A lot of people cannot let go Ford and GMs golden years. They call the Tacomas and Tundra outdated, but tried and proven is more appealing to me than new unproven power trains, strained turbo engines, weak transmissions and useless electronics that are only gonna break when your warranty is out.

Still sticking with my 2012 xlt with 167000 miles. Bought new, never had a problem yet

Doesn't Toyota still hold that 16 year record of the biggest recall in history. 7.3 million

Just remember that ford is producing nearly 1 million f-series trucks per year. Recalls are gonna be big when you have 10’s of millions of these things on the roads in the USA, Canada and Mexico. I’m not saying that ford couldn’t improve, but I’m certainly saying that when you try to keep ahead of the competition with industry firsts, and you are the Number 1 seller, things are bound to happen. And yes I compared a Tundra to my now lemon buyback 2018 f150. It was difficult for me (a quality valuing guy) to pass up the tundra. But I still would because Toyota isn’t putting any thought or money into tundra to bring it up to where it needs to be. I’d rather a company try and fail then never try. That’s what moves everyone to do better. Even if tundra could have another gear to increase mpg I would probably have gone with them. It’s just so left over from 2007 that I couldn’t give them my money. The super cheap non-matching switches and awkward gaudy dash ...the road noise and engine noise made me feel like I was shopping for a 1999 pickup. The thing needs a ton of refinement at the very least. And better crash test results!!

This is also another reason why I love the 92-96 Ford TRUCKS even more.

My Ford F150 2013 is now at the Ford dealership in Paris Arkansas because of this happening I was doing about 45 miles an hour and it felt like i had been hit by a mac truck in the rear end. It broke my U-Joint and screwed up the transmission to the point that my local repair shop found chunks of metal in the transmission pan. I received a "IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL" Letter in March of 2019 but FORD has not established a repair procedure for the 2013 6 speed transmission. I managed to start a case with FORD CAS-17940987-N5K1F4 but now it has been over a week and the dealership is not getting a response as to how to proceed. Supposedly the recall team is saying oh well the transmission is not showing the right code. I don't know what code do you need when it locks up the wheels on the truck and feels like someone slammed in to you. Maybe it is class action time???

I just recently experienced this myself truck downshifted to 1st gear going about 45 mph. Got software updated but I'm also experiencing the failure in the Molded lead frame truck will shift from 1st to 5th gear then go into limp mode which is just shifting gears 3-4

Yep, my 2012 f150 started having this issue at the beginning of the year. There are two recalls related to this issue now.

One to reflash the computer and the other just extended the warranty for the transmission output speed sensor.

Let me ask you this we run a fleet of f150s from 2008 to 2015 all have 250 300k miles zero issues except starter alternator.. I do believe some have issues but like 90 percent r solid powerhouses. I own a 17 f150 54k miles so far zero issues as well. My dad has a Toyota Tacoma had it towed 4 times biggest post has had. He also has a ram 44k miles tranny started slipping... he sees me in my f150 and hes like damn I should have gotten a ford instead. I understand some have issue but some never do. Remember every manufacture has problems dont get me started with Chevrolet.

Toyota is the high school sweat heart you know is dependable and pretty. The big 3 is the new hot girl who may or may not not turn into a sociopath.

My 2012 F 150 shakes and shudders engine light comes on, this usually happens going up a steep highway grade, it felt like the truck was going stall out. This all happened after i took it in to fix the recall sensor.

Thank you for providing this information. I want to be a first time truck owner and the information on the Ford F1 50 I think is very important. I do find it amazing that people do not believe you just because they do not experience it that is why videos like this are important to point out that they can happen so again I appreciate it

When I bought my 97 f150, I just knew it was gonna quit any day now, but I'll be damn the freakin thing just doesn't know when to quit. I'm really not a Ford guy, but how can I not appreciate that? Some things I don't like about, I'll admit that, but at least it hasn't left me stranded.

This recently happened to my mother when she was going 60. I fixed it by replacing the Lead Frame on the valve body in the 6r80 transmission. What it is is a bad output shaft speed sensor that needs replacing. It's about 1200 at the dealership or do it yourself for 120 and a few hours.

I live in Northern Nevada. Capital Ford in Carson City is the only Ford dealer handling recalls in the entire Northern Nevada area. I have been on the waiting list since March 2, 2020 to have the work done on this recall. Everyone is flooding in to get this fixed so I may be a few more months before they can get to my truck. 2012 XLT Supercrew cab. Bought in February with 66, 000 miles and am happier with this truck than any truck I have owned in the last 40 years.
