In addition, Hollywood Records has released its newest episode of their music docuseries, The Big Score. In this episode, composer Benjamin Wallfisch delves into his exhilarating score for Alien: Romulus. Wallfisch, known for his orchestral mastery and innovative blend of electronics, explores how his love for film music and orchestral giants like Stravinsky shape his unique approach. He shares insights on crafting themes that interweave human and alien elements, using silence as a powerful tool, and experimenting with choir and complex sound design.

The bone chilling choral voices in the beginning when they extract the xenomorph let me know what kind of an awesome experience I was in for. Well done sir.

Never heard Benjamin Wallfisch speak so it's pretty refreshing. He's very cool and seems really passionate with Alien Romulus in particular. His score will deliver.

He knocked it out of the park with Alien Romulus

He’s Glitchy and The Offspring are amazing tracks. LOVE the ways you use low cellos and strange ambience to create horror.

I’ll admit, I was skeptical going in. I was really disappointed with Wallfisch’s score for Twisters and worried Romulus would also suffer a lack of standout music and returning themes.
He knocked it out of the park. The score feels closest to Alien 3 mixed with Dead Space and the two little nods to Alien and Prometheus that help tie it into the rest of the films. It’s dark, creepy and ambient and I love it.

Came here because of those BIG DARK SYNTH hits and then remembered the choir! Great job

This score is amazing. It has a jerry Goldsmith vibe.

He is very slowly but surely becoming one of my favorite composers; especially after hearing his score to _The Flash._

I got so excited when I saw that the trombone section has a Contrabass Trombone!!! The Contrabass Trombone is not only my favorite Trombone but my favorite instrument of all time and I got one last year and I have loved playing on it. It's such a cool instrument and it's very underrated but it sounds very epic for film scores!!! My dream is to one day play it in a big film score like this!!!

SENSEI BENJAMIN WALLFISCH has been proving he's 1of THE greatest contemporaneous Composers alive since BLADE RUNNER 2049, to which It was him, not Hans Zimmer, who composed the majority of it.
The ALIEN ROMULUS Score is overwhelming inasmuch as the Film itself.
There are nods to SENSEIS GOLDSMITH, HORNER, LIGETI, PENDERECKI, STRAVINSKI, VANGELIS...
A TRIUMPH from goosebumping start to glorious end.👏🏼👏🏼🔥✨🇧🇷💚

The score during the final act sounded very much like a Ligeti composition.

It’s time for BW to graduate to the majors. I want him scoring Nolan and Spielberg level stuff now.

Heard this is Dolby almos at Cineworld. It was absolutely unbelievable. The tape delay woodwinds and choir stood out early on. Would love to know what he was using later for Andy when he changes directive. A lot of synthesis, I see he's using the hydra synth, I'm sure that's all over this score 🚀

Seems like a nice fella! the score itself is a little disjointed as a standalone listen, I'm positive it works very well within the movie itself. Going to give it more listens and time.
