My dad said “don’t get involved with someone who has more problems than you.” If only I’d have listened.

6 month relationship. She moved in
I was her chosen love of her life
She wanted a new car. No
Wanted joint bank account. No
Wanted wedding. No
Wanted security if something happened to me, my paid for house. Told her it was already in trust to my kids
She moved out

My aunt asks me all the time, "Are you married yet?" I say "No, I'm still happy."

Don’t remarry when you’re older. Protect yourself.

I am 73 and live alone for 20 years. I have a gardner and a maid and happy with the situation. No more marriage, I'm just happy with my two Dachshunds.

As an elderly lady said to me when we talked about relationships with Men later in life. She said " When you are my age men are looking for Nurse or Purse". Best to stay single and keep company with good friends and dogs.

Separate Finances. Just companionship. Live separately.

If you are over 50:
1. Don't date someone who has less than you;
2. Don't move in or let them move in:
3. Never get married!
4. Don't bring someone from abroad through marriage.

I'm in my 40s, never been married, never had children and I live alone in my own home. It's bonkers how common it is for men to think I'd move them in, pay for pretty much everything and even play step mum to their children. Absolutely not! I love being single and having the freedom to do what I want to do and when I want to do it! Thank you for this video because this is a subject that needs to be discussed.

I’ve just ended a 3 years relationship with a single father of 2.
In the last year, after I sold my business, he asked me to sell my apartment, get a mortgage to buy a larger house with him, to move in with his young daughters he takes care of very other week. He started asking me to get a joint account to pay the bills etc. I’m 51, my finances are great, I have no children of my own, no mortgage and owe nothing to the bank… There’s no way I was going to get in a situation where not only I would have to be a housekeeper, a cook etc, and get a loan to make his life better.

My advice to the community is stay alone, travel the world, and enjoy your freedom. There’s no peace like living alone.

This is a really important conversation, especially for older women. Studies have shown that the two happiest demographics are married men, and single women. There's a reason for that. I've been single for 4 years now, after being partnered since I was 18. I have never had a man add the value to my life that I've experienced living alone with my dog and cats. I will never give up being single.

I met someone and I asked her why she never remarried after her husband died 26 years ago. Her answer was simple, I did not want to be a nurse or a purse! That really sticks in my mind....so wise!

Just lost my wife of 32 years a week ago and really miss the companionship. Feel lonely as hell but the way society is now I will cuddle up with my dog

Am 58 retiring next year but the thought of retirement gives me weakness. My apologies to everyone who have retired and filing social security during this time after putting in all those years of work just to lose everything to a problem you never imagined to happen. It’s so difficult for people who are retired and have no savings or loved ones to fall back on.
