As a Thai, we "Wai"(put our hands at chest level and bow) when saying "sawasdee" as a Hello in Thai and it normal to smile at strangers, it shows good manner and good upbringing and it nice to get the same response. The fact that tourist know a little Thai sentences for shopping, foods, direction etc. and learn some Thai manner will get yourself out of trouble because we Thai basically, respect foreigners as our guests as long as you don't act very rude or too discriminate here.

Last time I visited a massage parlour, when I said no thanks to "extras" they lady was really surprised. She even said that I'm a good man, even if it means her losing 2000 thb. I feel like I am exploiting someone if I pay for "services". I don't imagine the girls really liking what they do. I saw a lot of the beautiful ones try to catch us younger guys before the really old men.

3:25 thank you for covering this. It’s so exhausting to see the poor trans women and ladyboys become objects for foreigners to mess with. It happens way too often. They go there for their fetishes and treat the people as if they aren’t human. The a-holes that record themselves doing it are even worse, because they’re promoting more of it.
There is nothing working with consuming sex work and hooking up strangers, but please remember that we are all human at the end of the day.

I'm in Pattaya right now for the past 2 weeks. I watched this video a few times before arrival and again since.

4:45 - 7:00 - you touched on 2 things which I will try to group together. I have made it a point, especially at bars, to tip but not "over tip" to offend those employees. What has happened on a few occasions thus far is that AFTER I settle a bar tab and tip, I suddenly have another bill in my cup for drinks I never ordered or get drinks delivered (and subsequently charged for) that I didn't order.

So, in those scenarios, I'm now not "allowed" to get upset at the blatant disrespectful and rude behavior of said Thai people for the sake of them not "losing face"? They know they are taking advantage of me in these instances. What makes it worse is it happens AFTER I have paid a tab and tipped them in a proper manner. I'm losing my patience quickly. Yes, I'm American, but it gets to a point where you start thinking that YOU are losing face by NOT confronting them. Just my $0.02.

I will say that I have been to Thailand many times and I love it, I do go for the "EXTRAS " if you know what I mean but I at least think that I am very respectful of the girls and I hope that I treat them with the utmost dignity and respect that I can. I go for more then just the girls though I love the culture and food and I can go to some of the temples and just sit and enjoy the peace that I feel there all day long. Don't know if I'm a good man or not but I like to think that I am. Anywho that's my opinion for what it's worth LOL

I heard Thai dislike Tourist who walk barefooded as well, especially in big cities I’ve seen plenty. Stupid way to think you’re being alternative while many Thai are still poor. Secondly the feet are the lowest bodypart of respect according to Boeddhism.
