If you're like most people, you only get stuff done when you feel an adequate amount of motivation to do so.
But motivation is a slippery thing. It comes and it goes.
On some days you have no motivation whatsoever, but on other days, you have so much of it you feel like you could take over the world.

It's almost like a coin flip. Sometimes it lands on motivation, other times it lands on no motivation.
So instead of waiting for the coin to flip correctly, I'll explain how to use the motivation sequence to motivate yourself.

This is so true! When I don’t wanna clean, for example, I just start doing something like washing the dishes. Before I even realize it I’m cleaning everything and it’s not hard.

Honestly, your videos are really inspiration for me to try again. But man the "depression" emotion is like anti-motivation. Its like OK you only have motivation to lay there and embrace the void. I need better Action in my life to help fix that.

Mel Robins has a nice mantra which works for me : it's motivation is garbage 5 4 3 2 1 go, it's just like "just do it", the most difficult part is to start.

As an INFJ I sometimes actually do need motivation to brush my teeth, take a shower, or get dressed... we're so stuck in our own heads sometimes it's hard to do anything else but think.

I just read about this same concept in The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*uck, in chapter 7 The 'Do Something' Principle. That's twice now in the span of a few days so I must need to hear this haha!

This video worked for me. I had a poor night of sleep so I feel very tired. After watching this in bed, I got up to make coffee and will head out for a walk next. Got trash to take out, room to clean up, and so forth. I feel motivated - Thank you!!

Part of why this works is because we're choosing to place our daily happiness/results into something we can control: the actions we do. Choosing to place it into solely motivation/inspiration, which can come and go at any moment (and thus we can't control) can lead to us just sitting around, waiting for motivation to strike, when really we can be creating it on our own. Isn't it amazing that how much of what we do, how happy we are, and the results we achieve can be tied so closely to whether we have an external or an internal loci of control?

What if you are the person that has a hard time with things like taking a shower? I have fibromyalgia, so even something like that can be painful and something you want to avoid. Also people that have depression are going to have a hard time doing things like getting out of bed or even brushing their teeth
