Synology loaned me their NAS so I get a better understanding of what their units are capable of, and see if they suit my editing needs. I just received all the components so let's jump on that and build one together.

I use a Synology 416 and a Synology 918+ with 4 x 4TB and 4 x 10TB respectively. Would not be without them. The 918+ has M2 SATA for caching, which really improves the speed. I am using the 2 1GB NIC's bonded to give 2Gbps from each NAS to the switch. Very nice units for general usage and they don't use a lot of power like leaving a PC on 24/7 does.
