Thank you for this video... I had a notification that was hiding the ellipsis in the top right and didn't know to add the drive to the storage pool from there.
Also appreciate the tip to test the drives as well. Great work!

Thank you for this video. I've been a Synology guy for 10 years but it's always 4-ish years between devices and I always forget how to do things.

Finally, every other video on youtube is only showing you how to just physically add another hard drive and not expand your current storage library if you're running out of space for files.

Did it, Thanks! I have 5 spaces in my DS1522+ I bought last month. I bought it with 2 12TB drives and have to save up for the rest. I added a 12TB this week and used your video to ad it. The SMART test took about 15 hours. At this moment it is adding the drive. After 4:17 hours it gives me 9, 33% and predicts about around 1 day and 9 hours 5 minutes (on the moment of checking, it fluctuates around that) left. I will buy my next 12TB next month and am very curious if it goes a little faster then. Your tutorials are wonderful! Thanks from The Netherlands. I just bought you a coffee via your website to Thank you.

Thorough and easy to follow with nice voice over.
Can I continue working the data while the new disk is being initialized ?

@WunderTech I completed the steps, the new HHD has comeback with status Normal & Healthy, however I don't see the 'Add Drive' option. Storage pool 1 shows SHR, Btrfs. RAID type is SHR with data protection for 1-drive fault tolerance. Appreciate your suggestion

Straight to the point as usual, thank you. I have one random question. Why DSM automatic walkthrough after I added the drive to the NAS takes me to initialize the HDD without asking me to do the Smart Test?

DSM: 7.1.1

Another great video!
I need a bit of advice in a matter, maybe you can help. I have a 920+ with 4 x 4TB in a SHR setup, 1 storage pool, 1 volume.
Now I have got 2 new 8TB Hdd. How can I safely remove 2 of my installed hard drives and add the new hdd`s? Thank you in advance!
