I got the hisense U6K, U7K 65", next U8K take it up to the next level, and had no complaints or issues, satisfied with all once I get the setting the way I like it.👍

Why does everyone keep saying it’s only 8 bit? It’s an 8 bit panel with 2frc. Meaning it’s basically a 10 bit panel the the qm8 is the same way. You cannot perceive a difference between a native 10 bit and an 8 bit frc panel.

Got Qm8 85" last week. Not big enough for the theater room. U8k 98" incoming. It's 2k less. I can deal with the lesser brightness. I watch movies at night in a dark green painted room (ceiling and everything).2 thousand dollars that's what I'm talkin about.

Any word on upscaling and smoothing from low bitrate or low res sources? TCL is supposed to follow up on this. My family uses internet and various apps to watch all of our content including sports, how QM8 handles low bitrate and low res is very important to us and probably to most people who aren't consistently running high bit rate and high res content like from cable tv service.

why qm8 is almost at the right angle and u8k is off angle? is it for a reason?

U8K is much better. Better options as far as settings, the sound is amazing no need for a soundbar @ 2.1.2 multichannel surround. 1 20 watt subwoofer, 2 10 watt speakers and 2 5 watt tweeters. You can also control local dimming.

I was actually out looking for a 65" TV for my Bar/Lounge area of my home. My criteria: Overall solid PQ, mostly in a darker environment, although there are windows in there. Sound Quality was a BIG factor as I do not want to use a soundbar as I am hanging it and want to limit extra mounting and additional peripherals and Best Bang for my Buck. Initially a VERY helpful and knowledgeable salesman at Best Buy (who ironically is from Japan and Sony certified), when I gave him my criteria, showed me the TCL. It was very impressive! In fact, I was prepared to buy it. Unfortunately they had none new in box for sale. Not even for ordering online. A testimony to the popularity of this TV. I need the TV now for a big NEW YEARS EVE party we are hosting at my home. So at the latest, would be 2 days from now. He then said, you know what, we have a really nice Hisense that is super comparable. Although they were not side by side, when I watched content on the U8K, my eyes were just as impressed and I have really good vision without need for glasses. Although we did not test out the sound quality, on paper, the U8K clearly wins in this important area for me. Plus, it was new in the box ready to go. So I bought it for $900 (same price as the QM8).
I also read a detailed review on RTINGS that I have trusted for many years. They pointed out that the U8K was better out of the box without calibration. That is VERY appealing to me as well. They also have it edging out the TCL very slightly. Splitting hairs really.
I do know a thing or two about TV.s and great PQ as I currently own a Sony BRAVIA XR X95K and a Epson 5050UB in my Home Theater showing on a 135" Silver Screen.

I would pick the QM8 out of the box for sure but would like to see how both would look with Quantom TV's settings to be able to 100% know, and see if the U8K has a better fighting chance. vs it because out of the box the U8K doesn't look that great.

Not going to lie … I love both. I initially bought the 85” QM8 for my guest bedroom and loved it! I just splurged on the 100U8K for my living room and gaming on them both has been incredible. QM8 is def brighter and the backlit remote is def better than the Hisense. Honestly after getting the 100” for $2999 it’s really hard to go back to my 77” LG C1, it looks like an ipad when compared to these 2 beasts.

at 5:09 why is there such a big difference in contrast? plants are dark green on one and light green on another.

Nice comparison. No local dimming level control seems like a big miss for the TCL. Another miss with the TCL is that it doesn’t have the new ATSC 3.0 tuner built in like the U8K and most flagship TVs from other brands have. But an 8-bit panel on the U8K is pretty lame as well.

Which one would you recommend for watching sports?

Size beats picture accuracy in this case so big win for the TCL
