I bought 'Made in Japan' the day it came out and still listen to it. Even my Dead Head GF loves this album.

Greatest respect for Skynyrd, I actually saw them on their final tour. But this one really isn't close for me, Made in Japan is an iconic beast. Deep Purple goes to the final....

I saw these 2 bands together a few years ago and I wouldn't say Skynyrd blew Purple off stage, but they were the better band on that particular evening. However of these 2 albums, I have to go very narrowly for Made In Japan, but as expected at this stage of the competition its a tough choice.

_Both_ are great, but I have a problem with taking two things that I enjoy but are otherwise difficult to compare and putting them in a pecking-order. I also wonder if this competition wouldn't be played on more equal footing if the albums in question weren't recorded/released within the same 1 or 2-year window. I bought both of these new on original release and I can assure you that Purple (1972) and Skynyrd (1976) appeared in two different _worlds, _ not just years.

I'm going with Skynyrd. I love Highway Star and Child In Time from Made in Japan. I could do without the rest of it.
I also know that Deep Purple will win this easily. That makes me want to vote for Ronnie and the guys and gals from down south.

Both albums are iconic but as I listen to one more from the road call me the breeze that piano solo and guitar solo are so good. And of course free bird on this album is perfect !!!! Gotta go with one more from road.

Deep Purple makes the cut here...although imho I think Made in Europe sounds less dated...much fresher sound, plus of course the amazing voice of Glenn Hughes...better than Gillan and Coverdale put together...controversial!!
