I was born in and have lived my whole life in Boise. Never have I known of such an event in my town. My high school which is near the mall went into partial lockdown mid-way through my last period of the day. Everybody was confused and I had believed that it may have been a police chase nearby bc I heard sirens. One of my classmates suddenly said, "There's a shooting at the mall". I walked over to his laptop which was on a local news website that said that police were responding to an active shooter at the mall and that at least 6 were injured. We had a delayed release and were told not to drive in the direction of the mall. By the time I left, due to talking with friends in the parking lot, the scene was under control. I took my normal route home, which happens to pass by the mall. As I drove by, I saw more police cars that I have ever known. I didn't even think that the BPD had so many cars. I also saw the SWAT APC which I had only seen once before. I also saw the white SUV with the bullet holes in the windows. That whole experience is so bizarre as we rarely see gun crimes, especially one of this magnitude in Idaho. I saw pictures from inside the mall. The only escalator I use when I go there was damaged from the gunfire. I had actually planned on going there after school, and a friend of mine's sister would've been there during the shooting had she not decided not to go. I'm happy that nobody I know was injured, but my heart goes out to the shooter's victims.

All of these STUPID mall shootings SUCK1 Not safe to be at any of them no more! It makes you want to stay home and just shop online only! Way too many wacked out and tripped out people out there. There was even a mall shooting just recently in my city of Flint, Mich. it was teens and adults involved in it. What is going on with folks?? This is the Devil's work!

This is why qualified individuals who want to carry guns should be allowed to do so... But qualified people who have passed training and vigorous background search, people who have been vetted and vouched for. This way we have protection against the criminals alongside the police.
