Stockholm never ceases to amaze me. A relative of mine, who has been living there for decades, told me he feels the same way; "Although I'm a resident I often go into the city centre, stroll around and simply inhale the atmosphere and the beauty of this magnificent city, just like a tourist would". Says it all.

Very well made video. Your narration is so calm and informative. Great video about the town there I was born, and lived for 40 years. 💐

Very nice presentation of our capital Stockholm. Just a few notes. I am a history buff so most of my remarks is about the history of the city. 1: The Royal Palace is built on the same spot where the old palace dating back to the 12th century stood. It burnt down in a fire in 1697 and the palace standing there today took a very long time to build due to wars, plague, famine and the fall of the Swedish empire in 1718-21. It was finally inaugurated in 1754, and no, the King and Queen don't live there, they have their offices there but they live at the Drottningholm palace on Ekerö, an island outside of Stockholm. 2: The Nobel Prize Museum is actually the Old Stock Exchange Building and the square outside it is Stortorget (Grand Square) where the horrible Stockholms Blodbad (Stockholm Bloodbath) took place in 1520, about 80-100 people was beheaded there as a result of the danish king of the Kalmar Union trying to consolidate his power over Sweden and ultimately failed as Sweden finally left the union in 1523 and elected Gustaf Vasa as king of Sweden. This marked the beginning of Sweden becoming more powerful and the slow decline of Denmark as the leading power of the nordic countries. This is just a short summary of all the struggles between Sweden and Denmark during the Kalmar Union between 1397 and 1523. If interested just search for the phrase Kalmar Union. 3: At last just a funny note on the lighter side. When sitting on the restaurant by the Stortorget you showed the beer lass with the text saying "FAT21". That just means "keg/barrel 21", as in a beer or ale keg/barrel. In Sweden draught beer is called "fatöl" which literally means "keg beer".
I hope you find my notes worth reading and I hope that you will return and see more of our lovely capital and also some other parts of our country. Welcome back !😀

As a Swede living on one of those 30.000 Irlands and with transportation with our own boat. Some periods with extra planning during ice periods 😊. We bought a piece of land and built our house with a lot of planning, logistic transportation. All by hand and by our self. You are a special person living in those isolated places. A living dream to Us with the nature all around us and with all seasons.

I really loved Your video and the setup. You made me courious about my own city and in a relaxed way. Calming....

Dont hesitate to visit Stockholm for another year, and for a week. 😊. There is much to explore that will bring memories for life.

Maybee a visit to our place 😊

Such a beautiful city with so much to do and see. That hand carved ship was amazing. I would’ve had a hard time choosing what to see too. At least you had two days.

how nice that you were here and also liked it, welcome back :) You did really good activities, boating is the best, there is even more to see if you enter the lakes and boat inland. Can recommend a visit in December as well, magical to go by boat when the city lights up.

You hit all the sweet sports in 2 days. If you come back there is plenty more to experience. Try the residential palace of Drottningholm with the magnificent gardens, and maybe Birka/Björkö both of which you can reach by very scenic boat rides. Or the subway stations which are the longest art gallery in the world (most are on the blue line). Just a few tips, there are tons more to explore.
Side note: I remember the Vasa in its wet dock and going to see it there and later in its first museum being constantly showered in water to keep it from deteriorating, yet I have still to see it in its final place. It is gorgeous and a national treasure despite the embarrassment it was originally...
