One (very cold) day to explore Stockholm, Sweden

We recently traveled from Amsterdam, The Netherlands, to the Stockholm area in Sweden for a quick New Year's trip. We took one day to venture into the city of Stockholm and explore this gorgeous Swedish capital city.

It's hard to decide what to see in a place like Stockholm when you only have one day, but we did our best and had a fantastic time as we saw underground art, the amazing Royal Palace, tried some warm and delicious classic Swedish food, and just enjoyed the sunny (yet very cold) weather we had that day.

✼ ABOUT US ✼
We are Nate and Katrina, two Americans living in Amsterdam, The Netherlands and traveling as much as we can to see what there is to see! Call us expats, immigrants, whatever... just call us already.

We balance work life with travel... as best we can! We would love to visit every country in Europe while we live here, and definitely keep a list of our global “must visit” destinations.

We try to give you a true view of us and how we travel and explore the world. Lots of food, definitely some jokes, and probably some swearing…. Hope you enjoy taking these trips with us!

As a Dutch, I’m used to pretty buildings, but oh my, those buildings in Stockholm are gorgeous! So bright and colorful.

Many of us in Sweden love Christmas lights, maybe due to the darkness of the season.
It makes the days a little nicer.

Very accurate video of Stockholm in a very cold windy winters day. I like the witty tone and edting of the video. And I love the music you choosed. But visiting just one day...? The city has so much to offer and more to discover than the old town. A week of slowly strolling around in the summer in the all the different districts would a very nice experience. Ok, that almost sounds like I'm from the tourist agency of Stockholm. But I'm not, I just live here and I'm getting more and more curious about my city the older I get. Thanks for sharing a great video!

The clicking sounds are for the visually impaired. It signals on which side the next train towards the city center is leaving.

Gamla stan is so beautiful and love how you guys still not that overly exited about the touristtraps lol seriously what did you expect also must be a huuge relief of not being forced to tip all the freaking time ;)

Growing up in the Netherlands, we had those stars too for Christmas. But that was a long time ago....

The bright winter sun in January and February is lovely and an appreciated return after having to suffer through the increasing autumn and winter darkness. 🌞

I've never thought about it, but a star as a decoration in wintertime has to do with the star that the three wise men followed to find baby Jeebus. Sweden and Scandinavia as a whole is largely secular, but we still sing the same songs and do the same things every year, not for Jeebus, but for tradition. ;)

Prova åka 600 km norrut 🤭.
Där vi bor här är det underbart.

They asked you for a tip? That's not the swedish way, that's the american way! Outrageous!! I'm slightly embarrassed by that, but not too much since I'm a swede. You know, we're "lagom". Awesome vlog guys, it's not easy portaying Sweden in the wintertime as anything positive, but you did it. ;)

I never notice the art in subway. One must come from abroad to appreciate those stuff.

Those pankakes @ 18:20 are probably 'raggmunkar' (potato pankakes).
Raisins and almonds are the traditional things you put in the glögg. some of us prefer to chop the almonds.

Very nice video. You two nearly always show different things than most of the other YouTubers.

We have those stars and candles at my house. US - must be something the family has done as ancestorial traditions. ❤
