Great introduction to both models. You have convinced me of the L-8's value!

You could use a reverb pedal on your vocal track to turn the effect on/off. Or maybe a vocal multieffect processor, which will give you more flexibility.

Superb comparison, I have the L12 and its an amazing mixer, my 1st mixer its a bit over kill for my desktop studio but its packed full of features which makes the extra size acceptable.

Thanks for the review! I run karaoke and use a different mixer, but had similar issues using the headphone jack to send audio to a foldback—something always sounded off. My workaround was to use the "Control Room Out" outputs instead, which are still controlled by the headphone volume. I run those through a Y cable to combine the left and right channels into a single mono XLR. It's worked well for me.

I regularly work outdoor weddings. I use it with a Eectro Voice Everse 8, a battery powered speaker that blows the Bose SP 1 away in sound quality and power. The Everse 8 has a USB powered output that powers the Zoom. I bought the Zoom for the same reason, I needed more inputs. I use the reverb from the Everse, which I can easily mute using the App on my phone.

Excellent video. I have an L – 8, but you didn't go over how you can connect it to your computer? How would you do something like that? I see on the L.-12 you have a direct line out that would make it easier for that. I'm just needing to know how to be able to hook it up to a computer. Thank you.

I dig my L-8. Recently used it in combination with my Spark Live amp for a full battery powered church service. It worked well. The addition of compression on the L-12 is nice, as well as that footswitch. In my setup, I can run the vocals through the mixer into the vocal input (with compression and reverb) on the Spark Live, so it works out as is.

I actually have pre-ordered the L-6, because the L-8 is a little large for my crowded desk with a few grooveboxes, sampler, and computer audio interface. Excited to have the smaller footprint for a desk mixer and will just use the L-8 more for multi-track recording around the house or small gig needs like that.

Thanks for your review of both mixers! What about Hi-Z inputs for guitar / bass and compression on the L-8?

You can put your nice synth with sequencer, your great sounding drummachine, and your beautiful effects with midi sync far away in your closet whenever you like to use the Zoom L6 digital recorder without any midi capabilities 😁

Thanks for the great video, mate!

I plan to have one pair of Bose S1 Pro/Pro+, connect to a mixer mainly for home music/theatre, some casual karaoke at home, and sometimes I’d like to plug in my keyboard and guitar to jam a bit. I initially considered the Yamaha analog mixers, about 6-10 channels, but got recommended a digital mixer for better features. Looks like this is a good fit for me. What’d you think? I came here while checking reviews of the Behringer Flow 8, but I think this one is better. Anyway, what is the built quality of this? I like solid and durable stuff. Many thanks!

Just a little tip, for those monitor outs with ts mono jacks, dont push them completely in, thats the reason for the thin sound, also on the L12. Maybe try a little for the best position.
