Thank you so much for this video! I have a very dirty rope, but it's my favorite (thus the reason it's dirty) and it needs some tender loving care. I wasn't sure how to wash my rope, but thanks to your video, I can now take care of my rope's cleaning needs with confidence! I appreciate it! Thanks, again!

The first time i cleaned my rope in a washingmachine. The effect was not very big, so i washed it in my bathtub. This was very effective. I used a washing lotion for "gore tex" without chemicals, just a biological version. After the cleaning i had to dry the rope for about 5 days, bevor it was absolutely dry. Be careful to dry your rope completely, if not it woun't be good in handling with tubers.

greetings from Austria!

I use my Tub, a rope brush, and warm water (mainly so it's not cold on the hands). I fill my tub with enough water that covers the rope bush when its placed in the middle of the tub, then I toss (flake) my rope to one side of it. Then I attach the rope brush to one (top) end and then while holding the brush down under the water, pull the entire rope through to the other end of the tub (flaking it again in the process). Then I drain the dirty water, fill the tub again with clean water, and then I repeat the process again and again until I am satisfied that no more dirt is being removed from the rope (water remains clean).... and then clean the dirt ring in the tub.
To dry the rope, just lap coil it over the shower bar and place a towel on the floor to catch the drips.

I just washed my rope yesterday and I had to repeat the process 4 times....
I made a recording of it and will upload it to my channel in the near future

This was so helpful, thank you! It's always so stressful trying to dry my rope afterwards and I was never sure if I should use a washing machine.

Why can't I dry the rope in the sun? When I go climbing the rope is often in the sun the whole day. Obviously if you keep the rope for days in the sun it will age quicker but, leaving it one morning to dry is no different than go climbing one morning.

something tells me you would have a fit if you looked at the rope store for my caving club, the closest thing it gets to being cleaned is being wetted in a river so it will pack tighter into bags

Great! But I already washed my rope 2 days ago, by hand in a bath tub. Took me so much time! The rope is now somehow hanging in the attick. My question is for how long should it dry? When will I know that it is dry enough? Because the endings were dry for sure, but the middle of the rope was a bit "moisty", so I left it for another day to dry.
