I told a friend of mine that His 92 camaro just needed some TLC which means tender love and care and he went to autozone and asked the clerk for some TLC and they all looked at him like he was nuts

I love your channel, and all of your videos Scotty. Lately I've watched the "EGR cleaning" video and the "clamp for radiator hoses" videos. I always learn so much here. I don't want to spend oodles of cash at the shop when I can do most of this myself, and having mostly older vehicles (1990 F250 XLT, 1998 Nissan Sentra [insert sad face here], 2000 Mazda Protege) I would be spending more than just oodles to get them running decently again.
I'm getting a bit more comfortable tackling larger repairs, and I wanted to thank you for making these jobs a little easier to handle. Keep up the good work and REV THOSE ENGINES!

Thanx Scotty! As a retired auto mechanic now selling Auto Parts and handing out repair advice I've suggested this to many of my customers and shown them how to do it. Most of the time they come back doing virtual cartwheels saying "Thank you so much! You've saved me $75!" That makes for repeat customers!

Took my '94 dodge colt to 2 different professionals who couldn't diagnose why the car was running poorly. I started doing some googling and youtubing... thought clogged egr sounded right. Man that thing had chunks of carbon coming out... ran like a top after that. Learned something about my car and " professional " mechanics

I had my EGR valve replaced by a mechanic, but it was defective. he refused to replace it, and I wasn't about to pay another mechanic to do it. So I replaced it myself. But I'm adding this video to my favorites, so that I can learn to keep this EGR valve clean and functioning well for years.

Scotty, you should have told folks to check the EGR passages into the block etc. They often plug with carbon and need to be cleared out.

You really don’t want to soak the EGR valve upside down - that diaphragm is made from material, not metal, and the carb cleaner or solvent can actually destroy that. It may also be a good idea to try to clean the passages that you see, when the EGR valve is off the car, as carbon can block those passages as well.

I had the same problem. Check engine light for egr. Dealer said it is a digital egr and must be replaced $500 🏃. I took it apart, cleaned, changed 3 silver gaskets and check engine light gone.

On this particular V6 Toyota engine that he's working on, the old 3VZE (which I have) also exists the EGR probe (~6" long) which goes inside the intake plenum next to the EGR. That should be removed and cleaned as well as it gets corroded with deposits. And as you will see, there is also the EGR Modulator in front of the EGR which looks similar in that it has a round top. The EGR Modulator has 3 vacuum hoses (P, Q, R). There is a small disc-shaped filter in the top of this unit and it should be removed and cleaned out. Other things to look for in this smog system are the PAIR reed valve unit (further behind and lower from EGR), the Evap "charcoal" cannister on rear left fender, and lastly, check the inlet / oulet temps of the Catalytic converter with a laser thermometer which should be ~80 to 100 degrees in difference for a working cat If under 75, the cat is on its way out.. If under 50..replace it! Replacing the oxygen sensor down there is also not a bad idea.
Those are all the main smog items on this engine.

Someone should put a Scotty kilmer struggle sound compilation video up on YouTube. Hilarious when he tightens up a screw or pulls a part out of car he grunts

Scotty is manic but that’s part of the appeal!

The main part is the range of good tips and help he gives.

Thanks!
