What are differences between phenetics and phonology?
Phonology:
Phonology is concerned with the study of sound system of a particular language.
Phonology is concerned with how sounds function in relation to each other in a language.
For Example:
Phonemes, Allophones,
Syllable, Intonation and Stress etc.
Phonology gives us insight into how the human mind works.

Phonetics:
Phonetics is science of speech sounds and their production.
Phonetics is concerned with how sounds are produced, transmitted and perceived (we will only look at the production of sounds).
For Example:
Articulation, acoustics and auditory etc.

The contents for the Channel are as follows:

Great job! 🫶🏼

But I'd like to pose two questions:

1. What do you mean when you speak about the study of functions and patterns of sounds?

2. When we do phonetic transcriptions, we are working beyond the actual pronunciation or auditory articulation of sounds? Why do not call it, then, phonological transcription?

Thank you very much in advance!
